" D... Drew?" May whimpered.
Drew turned from Rosellia to face her, then gasped.
" May what happened?!" He exclaimed as he grabbed her arm and pulled her to a chair, then grabbing the first aid kit. " How did you get so banged up?"
"Uh... gang war outside," May muttered, her voice weak as she winced from the pain in her arm. Her face was scratched up, and there was a small bruise on her cheek. Torchic, Beautifly, and Squirtle had sprinted over to her the moment they saw her, their worried eyes scanning her injuries.
"May, you've got to be kidding me." Drew's voice was laced with concern as he kneeled beside her, gently taking her arm. "What were you thinking? You can't just walk into a situation like that."
Torchic chirped, flapping its tiny wings nervously. Beautifly hovered close to May, its wings fluttering in a concerned pattern, while Squirtle let out a soft, worried cry.
"I'm fine, really," May said quickly, trying to reassure them all. She tried to stand, but her knees wobbled, and she sat back down with a grunt. "See? I'm okay."
Drew didn't buy it for a second. His expression was serious as he pulled the first aid kit from his bag and began examining her injuries. "No, you're not fine, May. Look at you. You're hurt, and you're going straight to bed."
"But why?" May protested, her voice tinged with irritation as she tried to push herself upright again. "I can't just lay around, Drew. I've got things to do."
Drew raised an eyebrow, folding his arms across his chest as he met her gaze. "Because I said so," he said firmly. "Boyfriend's orders." He softened slightly when he saw the stubborn look in her eyes. "Come on, May. You need to rest and heal. I won't have you pushing yourself and getting even more hurt. You've already been through enough."
May groaned, but she couldn't argue with him. She gave a small nod, although she still didn't want to give up her independence. "Fine, fine. You win, Drew."
Torchic chirped in agreement, rubbing its head against May's leg as Beautifly landed on her shoulder, offering her a comforting touch. Squirtle, too, gave a small, concerned squeak before climbing up onto her lap.
"Good," Drew said, standing and gently guiding her to her feet. "Now, no more protests. You're going straight to bed so I can make sure you're okay."
May pouted slightly but allowed Drew to lead her to her room. As he helped her lie down, she sighed in defeat. "You're really overprotective, you know that?"
"I know," Drew said softly, sitting on the edge of the bed as he began applying some antiseptic to her wounds. "But I care about you. And I'm not going to let you get hurt more than you already have."
May glanced up at him, her lips curling into a small smile. "Thanks, Drew. I guess I'll let you take care of me this time."
Drew returned her smile, his eyes softening with affection. "Always."
