"I told you it wouldn't look good. I haven't worn a dress in years," Mo Ran said, instantly feeling ashamed.
"It looks great," Zhang Wan Ying said, smiling as she pulled Mo Ran in front of the mirror. She reached out to untie the hair tie holding Mo Ran's hair up. "Ran Ran looks like a little fairy with her hair down."
The girl in the mirror had a long, slender figure. Her cheeks, partially hidden by her hair, were slightly flushed, making her usually sharp features look softer.
It actually did look pretty good, Mo Ran thought, touching her face. The feeling was strange and unfamiliar, as if the her wearing the dress and the her before were not the same person. They had the same appearance, but they presented two different styles.
Maybe that was the charm of dresses. As the saying goes, clothes make the man.
But in the end, she didn't keep the dress. She chose other clothes instead, much to Zhang Wan Ying's disappointment.
The two returned to the rest area. Qi Kui was already waiting with a deck of cards. Mo Bai was munching on a plate of snacks. The rest area was actually a coffee and dessert shop, with many tools and ingredients for making desserts.
Qi Kui happened to know how to make them, so she had made some snacks for everyone. Mo Ran went over to Mo Bai and took a bite. It tasted great.
"Xiao Kui is so versatile. She's beautiful, she can make desserts, she's strong, and she can fix things. If I wasn't into a different type of girl, I might have fallen for her." He whispered to Mo Ran.
Mo Ran shrugged noncommittally. She looked at him with some worry. Although Mo Bai's outward appearance showed no sign of sadness, he could even joke with her, she could sense that it was all an act.
As if sensing Mo Ran's thoughts, Mo Bai smiled and said, "Sis, don't worry. I'm fine. The dead are gone, the living should live with the effort of the dead. Besides, in this apocalypse, we should be happy to be alive for another day. Maybe we'll be reunited with Mom soon."
Mo Ran pursed her lips and didn't say anything. She understood this logic, but it was frustrating that her younger brother had to teach her, her older sister.
"What are you two doing over there? Come play with us." Huang Shan called out.
"Coming, coming." Mo Bai smiled and pulled Mo Ran over.
Three people could play Doudizhu (a popular card game in China), but five people could play more variations. Huang Shan suggested playing "Draw the Ghost Card," where the person who drew the ghost card had to complete a truth or dare assigned by the previous person.
If the ghost card remained in the player's hand after a round, they would be assigned truth or dares by everyone in turn. The second round would continue from the last person.
This game was a must-have for bored young people. No one objected. They were bored anyway, and playing truth or dare could promote bonding and whatnot.
The ghost card was the flower card. It was shuffled with the rest of the cards. The five players were seated in order, starting with Huang Shan, followed by Mo Ran, Zhang Wan Ying, Qi Kui, and Mo Bai.
After the first round of dealing, everyone drew five cards, discarded pairs, and started drawing the ghost card one by one. Mo Ran was the first to draw. Huang Shan, her previous player, had a serious expression, giving no clues.
She pointed at one of the cards. Huang Shan's eyes flickered, then he smiled, looking sly.
"Do you have the ghost?" Mo Ran asked cautiously.
