The night passed slowly, but eventually, YN said her goodnight, leaving Jimin staring at their chat, his mind racing with thoughts of her pain and his guilt.
YN: Goodnight, Scribbler.
Scribbler: Sleep well, doll.
As her final message came in, Jimin sighed and set his phone down on the bedside table. He stared at the ceiling, the echoes of her words haunting him. "I think I was just a distraction to him." The phrase repeated in his mind, each time slicing deeper into his chest.
Jimin's POV: You were never a distraction, Muffin. You're my everything.
He tossed and turned, unable to sleep, the weight of his mistakes pressing down on him like a heavy blanket. He hated himself for how he had treated her, for letting his ego and his insecurities push her away.
Finally, exhaustion claimed him, and his restless thoughts quieted for a few hours.
Jimin stretched in bed, the faint sunlight filtering through the blinds. It was the weekend-two full days until he could see YN again. The thought filled him with a strange mix of impatience and longing. He sat up, rubbing his face, and glanced at his phone.
A call from Jungkook broke his thoughts.
Jimin: "What's up, Kookie?"
Jungkook: "Hyung, listen. Last night, Ji-Won called me."
Jimin's jaw tightened. "And?"
Jungkook: "She was asking about you. I told her we got drunk and you were at my place, sleeping. She said she'd come pick you up. I told her, 'No way, he's sleeping,' and hung up on her."
Jimin let out a tired laugh. "Thanks, Kookie." But his voice carried a hint of sadness.
Jungkook: "Jimin-ah, are you okay?"
Jimin: "Hmm."
Jungkook: "I'll come over."
Jimin: "Hmm."
Jungkook sighed and hung up.
As Jimin set the phone down, it buzzed again. This time, it was Ji-Won. He frowned and reluctantly answered.
Jimin: "What do you want, Ji-Won?"
Her voice was thick with faux concern. "I'm worried about you, baby. Why are you ignoring me?" She sniffled dramatically.
Jimin opened his mouth to reply, but before he could, he heard a familiar voice in the background.
Jimin's Mom: "Jimin! Is this how you treat someone who cares about you?"
Jimin froze. Ji-Won was at his parents' house.
Taking a deep breath, he replied calmly, "Mom, I need some space. I'll come home soon. Please don't call me for now."
Without waiting for a response, he ended the call.
He stood in silence for a moment, then he took a shower and turned to his dresser. As he pulled out a shirt, his eyes landed on something small but significant-YN's hairband. She must've forgotten it the last time.
Picking it up, he wrapped it around his wrist and stared at it, his thumb brushing over the fabric.
"You're not just on my mind, Muffin. You're everywhere," he whispered.
The doorbell rang, pulling him from his thoughts. He opened the door to find Jungkook standing there, holding two small bags.
Jungkook: "I brought breakfast. Let's eat."
Jimin gave a small smile and stepped aside. "Come in."
They ate in comfortable silence, Jungkook occasionally cracking jokes until Jimin's mood lightened. By the time Sunday evening rolled around, Jungkook's efforts had paid off-Jimin was smiling again, even if faintly.
Monday Morning
Jimin woke up, his heart racing with anticipation. It was finally time to see YN again. He got dressed quickly, his mood brighter than it had been in days. As he descended the stairs, his parents were seated in the living room.
Jimin's Dad: "Jimin, we need to talk."
Jimin paused, his hand tightening around the strap of his bag. "I'm late for class, Dad."
Jimin's Dad: "It won't take long. I just want to remind you-Ji-Won loves you. You need to treat her better."
Jimin's jaw clenched, but he forced himself to nod. "Got it.
Without another word, he left, the hairband still snug on his wrist, a quiet reminder of the one person he truly wanted to see.
