Defeat No: 1

They were sitting on the couch, halfway through a movie. Jimin had barely paid attention to the plot; his mind was consumed by thoughts of YN.

Jimin: (during a quiet scene) "Muffin, can we talk about—"

YN: (suddenly turning up the volume) "Shh, this is the best part! You'll miss it!"

Jimin: (sighing, leaning back) "You've seen this movie five times already."

YN: (grinning) "Exactly! That's how I know this part is important!"

As the scene played out, Jimin glanced at her. She was deliberately focused on the screen, avoiding his gaze. He shook his head, defeated—for now.

Jimin leaned against the kitchen counter, watching YN chop vegetables for dinner. She moved around with ease, clearly in her element.

Jimin: "Muffin, I think we need to talk."

YN: (not looking up) "Pass me the salt, will you?"

Jimin handed her the salt but didn't let the topic go. "I'm serious. You've been avoiding me whenever I try to talk about—"

YN: (interrupting) "Oh no! Did I forget to defrost the chicken? Jimin, can you check the freezer for me? Quick!"

Jimin: (frowning, heading to the freezer) "You know, you're not as sneaky as you think."

YN: (smirking) "And you're not as quick as I thought. The chicken's already on the counter."

Jimin groaned, but her playful smile made it impossible to stay annoyed.

They sat across from each other at a small café near the woods, the aroma of fresh coffee filling the air. Jimin stirred his drink, his gaze fixed on YN as she scrolled through her phone.

Jimin: (clearing his throat) "Muffin, I really want to talk about us."

YN: (pretending to look shocked) "Us? Since when did you start talking about existential topics, Jimin?"

Jimin: (unamused) "I'm serious."

YN: (pointing to his coffee) "Oh no, did they forget your sugar? You like it sweet, right? Should I call the waiter?"

Jimin: (leaning forward, narrowing his eyes) "You're changing the subject again."

YN: (grinning, raising her cup) "Am I? Or am I just keeping things light and fun? Cheers!"

Jimin sighed as she clinked her cup against his.

One sunny morning, Jimin and YN went for a jog near the woods. Jimin had been trying to ease into the conversation without overwhelming her.

Jimin: (panting lightly) "Muffin, I've been meaning to ask—"

YN: (suddenly stopping) "Wait, look! There's a rabbit! Oh my gosh, it's so cute!"

Jimin: (stopping, glancing around) "Where?"

YN: (pointing to the bushes) "Over there! Oh no, it ran away."

Jimin: (exasperated) "Muffin, we need to talk. You can't keep avoiding this forever."

YN: (stretching casually) "I'm not avoiding anything. I just think rabbits are more interesting than serious talks."

She jogged ahead before he could argue, leaving him shaking his head with a small smile.

Driving back from their dinner in town, Jimin decided he couldn't wait any longer.

Jimin: (keeping his eyes on the road) "Muffin, can we talk about what's going on between us?"

YN: (pretending to search for something) "Wait, where's my chapstick? I think I left it at the restaurant."

Jimin: "We'll get you another one later. Just listen to me for a second."

YN: (gasps dramatically) "What if I don't find the same shade again? Jimin, turn around!"

Jimin: (gripping the wheel tighter) "Muffin, you don't even wear lipstick half the time."

YN: (grinning) "Exactly, so when I do, it has to be perfect."

Jimin let out a long sigh, realizing she wasn't going to let him win this round.

They stepped out of the boutique, YN holding a couple of shopping bags while Jimin carried the rest. The evening air was crisp, and the soft glow of the streetlights illuminated their path as they walked toward his car. Jimin glanced at her, his thoughts swirling. She had been avoiding his attempts to talk for days, and he couldn't take it anymore.

As they reached the front door of the house, YN walked ahead, humming softly. She turned the key in the lock, ready to step inside when suddenly, she felt arms wrap tightly around her waist.

Her heart skipped a beat. "Jimin," she said, her voice firm but slightly breathless. "Leave me.

Jimin didn't budge, his chin resting lightly on her shoulder. "Muffin, please," he murmured, his voice laced with desperation. "I want to talk to you."

She tried to move, but his hold only tightened. "Jimin, I need shower. Let me go."

Instead of letting her go, Jimin dropped to his knees behind her, his arms still encircling her waist. "No," he said, his voice trembling.

You've been avoiding me, and I can't keep pretending I don't notice."

YN froze, her hands clutching the shopping bags. She didn't look at him, her gaze fixed on the door.
