YN watched the exchange, her heart swelling with emotion.
Her father finally offered a faint smile. “Alright. Let’s go. You still have a long drive ahead.” He then turned to YN. “Come soon. We’ll wait in the car.”
YN smiled and nodded. “Okay, Dad.”
As soon as they stepped out, Jimin wasted no time. He pulled her into a tight hug, burying his face in her neck.
“I’m already missing you, doll,” he mumbled, voice laced with emotion.
YN wrapped her arms around him, inhaling his scent. “It’s just one week, Jimin.”
Jimin tightened his grip. “Too long.”
She pulled back slightly, looking into his eyes. “When I come back, we’ll be one step closer to forever.”
Jimin cupped her face, pressing a lingering kiss to her forehead. “I can’t wait.”
With one last look, she left, her heart aching yet filled with love.
Jimin arrived home, expecting an empty house, but instead, he found his parents sitting in the living room, deep in conversation. His father looked up and offered him a small smile.
“Did you have your dinner?” his father asked.
Jimin nodded. “J-Hope just came back from his business trip, so I’m going out with him and Jungkook for dinner.”
His father nodded in approval, but his mother remained silent, staring at the floor.
Jimin sighed. He had noticed her growing quieter over the past few weeks, as if guilt had taken hold of her. He stepped forward and knelt beside her, gently holding her hands.
“Mom…” he whispered.
She looked up at him, tears already forming in her eyes.
“I’m sorry, Mom,” Jimin said, his voice thick with emotion. “I shouldn’t have—”
Before he could finish, his mother shook her head. “No, Jimin. I’m sorry. I hurt you so much… I wasn’t thinking about your feelings. All I cared about was status and money.”
Tears spilled from her eyes as she gripped his hands tightly.
“I thought I was doing what was best for you, but I was blind. You were right, Jimin… love isn’t about wealth or appearances. It’s about happiness. And if YN makes you happy, then that’s all that matters.”
Jimin swallowed hard, squeezing her hands. “Mom, no… You only wanted the best for me. But I’m not perfect, Mom. I have flaws. We all do. And that’s okay. We just have to accept them and move forward together.”
His mother sobbed quietly, nodding as she pulled him into a tight embrace.
“I love you, my son. I’m proud of you.”
Jimin closed his eyes, his heart feeling lighter. “I love you too, Mom.”
His father watched the scene with warmth in his eyes before clearing his throat.
“Since we’re having honest conversations… I have an announcement to make.”
Jimin and his mother turned toward him.
His father smiled. “I’m hosting a dinner tomorrow night. It’s time for me to step down… and for you, Jimin, to take over as CEO.”
Jimin’s eyes widened. “Dad…”
“You’ve worked hard, son. It’s your time now.”
Jimin nodded slowly, absorbing the weight of his father’s words. He had been preparing for this moment for years, but now, with YN in his life, everything felt even more meaningful.
His mother wiped her tears, now smiling with pride. “I know you’ll make us proud.”
Jimin stood, taking a deep breath. “I won’t let you down.”
The following evening, the grand dining hall of the Park mansion buzzed with murmurs of anticipation. The long mahogany table was adorned with crystal chandeliers above, golden candlelights flickering against the polished surfaces. Business elites, close family members, and longtime investors of Park Enterprises had gathered, each awaiting the grand announcement.
Jimin adjusted his suit, glancing toward the entrance. His eyes instinctively searched for YN. He hadn’t seen her all day, and even though it had only been a few hours, it felt like a lifetime.
His mother, now standing beside his father, seemed more composed than the previous night. There was a softness in her gaze whenever she looked at Jimin—a silentacknowledgment that she was finally on his side.
His father raised a glass, tapping it lightly. The room fell silent.
“Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for being here tonight,” his father began, his deep voice commanding the attention of everyone present. “For decades, I have dedicated my life to building Park Enterprises. But every empire must eventually be passed down to a new generation. And I believe that time has come.”
A murmur spread through the crowd. Some had anticipated this moment, yet the official declaration carried a different weight.
