YN froze for a second, blinking in confusion. "What did you just call me?"
Jimin grinned, clearly enjoying himself. "I said, let's go for a walk."
YN furrowed her brow, unsure if she had misheard him or if he was just messing with her again, but she decided to let it slide for now.
As they continued walking, Jimin showed a thumbs-up behind his back, unseen by YN. Jungkook, who had been hiding behind a nearby tree, struggled to contain his laughter as he watched the entire scene unfold.
YN: "Can you let go of my hand now? I can walk on my own."
Jimin: With a teasing glint in his eyes, he held on tighter. "Why would I let go? I kind of like having you this close."
They both reached a small mountain. The cool breeze made everything feel surreal, especially with the subtle tension building between them.
YN: "It's so peaceful here."
Jimin, instead of gazing at the stars, kept his eyes on her. He responded softly, "Yes, it is peaceful."
But the weight of her question hung between them.
YN: "Why the sudden change? You're not being rude. You're sitting here with me... without yelling." Her voice wavered as her thoughts drifted back to that day in the library. "And that day, you..." She faltered, flustered, her eyes dropping to the ground.
Jimin, sensing her hesitation, leaned closer, his eyes locked onto hers, as though daring her to finish her sentence.
Jimin: "That day I what?" He smirked knowingly, his voice dripping with playfulness.
YN, her cheeks burning, finally whispered, "You... hugged me." Her voice was barely audible as she kept her head low, feeling the heat rise to her face.
Jimin, his demeanour softening, gently took her hand in his. He began rubbing his thumb in slow circles across her skin, a subtle yet intimate gesture.
Jimin: "Why do you think?" His voice was low, almost a whisper, as his gaze held hers.
YN froze, caught off guard by his words and the intensity of his stare. She slowly lifted her head, her heart racing as their eyes locked. For a moment, they were lost in each other, everything else fading away.
But the spell was broken by the abrupt ringing of YN's phone. Bora's name flashed across the screen. YN, flustered, quickly pulled her hand away from Jimin's and stood up to take the call.
Bora: "Muffin! Where are you?!" Her voice blared through the phone.
YN: "I went for a walk. I'm coming back now." She cut the call quickly, feeling the tension in the air between her and Jimin.
Jimin, sensing the perfect opportunity to tease her, smirked as he stood up.
Jimin: "Let's go, Muffin," he said with a teasing glint in his eyes.
YN's face flushed instantly as she shot him a glare. "Don't you dare, Jimin. Don't call me that!"
Jimin, enjoying the game, grinned wider. "Why, Muffin? You don't like it?" He began teasingly repeating the nickname, knowing it would get under her skin. "Muffin, muffin, muffin!"
YN, frustrated but also amused, started chasing him. "I said don't call me that! I swear, Jimin, I'll kill you!"
Jimin laughed, running ahead, calling out, "Muffin! Muffin!"
But in her haste, YN didn't notice the tree branch in her path. She stumbled, her foot catching on it, and she began to fall forward.
In an instant, Jimin was there, catching her before she could hit the ground. The sudden movement brought them close, her body pressed against his as his arms wrapped tightly around her. It was more than just a save-it felt intentional, protective.
For a moment, neither of them moved. YN felt her heart pounding, not from the fall, but from the way his arms felt around her. She closed her eyes, letting herself relax into his embrace, feeling an unexpected sense of safety and warmth.
Jimin, noticing the soft smile on her face, gently tightened his grip. He stared at her for a moment, his expression softer than ever before. Slowly, he pulled away, but YN stood frozen, her cheeks flushed.
Trying to shake off the intensity of the moment, Jimin smirked again.
Jimin: "Be careful, Muffin. Don't trip over."
YN, still recovering from the whirlwind of emotions, tried to laugh it off, but her heart was still racing from being so close to him. She knew something had shifted between them-something she couldn't quite put into words yet.
As Jimin gently held YN's wrist again this time, YN reciprocated, her fingers wrapping around his hand. A smile spread across Jimin's face, his heart fluttering at the small yet significant gesture.
