Rohit helped him to the bed and stood beside it.

"Abhi kya hua hai? Why this stupid frown on your face? Pain wala frown toh hai nahi, bata kya hua hai?" he asked, noticing Virat's sad frown.

"Go! You'll be late for practice," Virat said, turning his face away from Rohit.

Rohit sighed, knowing that Virat had felt bad about what he had said.

Rohit sat on the chair beside the bed. Virat turned his face to the opposite side. Rohit just chuckled at his actions, which were extremely childish.

Rohit gently placed his hand on Virat's cheek to make him look at him, and it worked as always.

"Sorry, I shouldn't have said it like that, but you should know better than to take the blame alone. We could have said that it was both of our faults, Vi!" Rohit said softly, to which Virat leaned into his hand.

"Sorry," Virat said, holding his hand, which was still on his cheek. "Tu aise mat bola kar. Mujhe acha nahi lagta," Virat added.

Rohit just smiled at him upon hearing that. Virat saw that smile— it was the best. It made his day when he saw that smile on Ro's face.

It automatically made him smile too. His best friend always knew how to make him feel better.

"Pain hai, Abhi?" Rohit asked, taking his hand back from Virat's cheek and checking his ankle.

"Nahi, thoda kam hai after I had painkillers," Virat replied.

"You should take some rest," said Rohit, sitting beside him on the bed.

"Hmm, stay with me till I fall asleep, aur phir practice chale jaana," Virat said, leaning his head on Rohit's arm, already drowsy from the painkillers.

Rohit knew they were pretty strong since they had a match in two days, and Virat had to play.

Rohit just patted his head to help him sleep properly, and Virat shifted closer out of habit.

Rohit didn't mind because it was very common and natural for them to hug and sleep together.

But Virat felt something different when Rohit touched his cheek. He just shrugged it off, blaming it on the strong medication.

"Sleep, Vi, you're thinking too much," Rohit said, noticing him frowning with his eyes closed—he knew it was a habit of his when he was thinking about something.

"You are the best, Ro," Virat mumbled, then put his hand on Rohit's waist, falling asleep soundly.

Rohit chuckled at that and placed his hand on Virat's hand that was resting on his waist. Virat's head was buried on his side.

He didn't try to move him because it might disturb his sleep, and he didn't want that. Virat needed rest.

Rohit sat there, holding Virat and checking his ankle position from time to time.

He texted Mahi bhai that he'd practice in the evening. Virat needed him, and he was going to be there.

"You didn't go for practice," was the first thing Virat asked as he woke up and saw Rohit busy on his phone.

"How are you feeling? Pain?" Rohit asked, caressing his forehead out of habit.

"Ro, forehead mein nahi, ankle mein lagi hai," Virat said, leaning into his touch and teasing him with that.

"Shut up," Rohit said, standing up from his side, causing Virat to immediately feel empty, but he shrugged it off again.

Rohit touched his ankle with such care and soft hands. Virat hissed a little at that.

"It's not your fault," Virat said, noticing Rohit's guilty expression.

"Of course it's not. I didn't jump like a monkey from one couch to another and then onto the bed. This is all your fault," Rohit said, making a joke to distract Virat from the pain.

"Yeah, sure! Am I the one who can cry at any moment now?" Virat teased him further.

"I just can't see you in pain," Rohit said, caressing his ankle once again.

"Neither can I," Virat said, giving him a soft smile.

Virat didn't know how long he had been looking at Rohit.

He was just noticing how worried he looked, the frown lines on his forehead when he was deep in thought, and the crooked half-smile he would give when he made a sarcastic comment.

"Oh, you're here. I was searching for you all over the hotel," a voice broke Virat's thoughts and his gaze. He blamed the gazing on the high dosage of medicine.

"Neha! What are you doing here?" Rohit asked, shocked and surprised.

"Ohh, Ro! You weren't picking up my calls, and did you forget we have lunch plans together?" Neha said, holding his arm.

"How many times have I told you not to call me Ro?" Rohit said in a quiet voice.

Virat cleared his throat, not wanting to see more closeness between them.

"Where did that come from?" he thought.

"Oh, hi, Virat. Didn't see you here," Neha said, finally acknowledging his presence. "It's Rohit's room, right?" she added again.

Rohit rubbed his face in frustration. Virat was waiting for him to say something, but he didn't.

"Yeah, it's Rohit's room. I was just going," Virat said after waiting for a couple of minutes, hoping Rohit would speak up.

"Vi... no... you..."

"Ro, let him go, na? We have to spend time together," Neha said, wrapping her arms around Rohit, preventing him from going near Virat.

Virat just gave him a stern look—Don't even try to come near him and be with Neha.

Rohit didn't understand the look.

Virat slowly stood up, using the wall for support. Rohit felt bad, but Virat didn't let him help him, nor did Neha let him go.
