Rohit was still sitting there, confused about what was wrong with Virat. He looked at the plate in front of him, only to notice that Virat had just taken one bite of food. He needed to finish the meal as he was taking painkillers.

Virat's POV:

Why am I so angry? Fuck! What is wrong with me? It's not Rohit's fault that I am clouded with all these feelings.

But what hurt the most— I was just like any other friend in Rohit's life.

It was not the case with me though— Rohit, his Ro, he was special to me. More than anyone. Even more than Mahi bhai.

Rohit— he was just the best. No one could ever come close to him in my life.

No, no— what am I thinking? Sure, there's Jaddu, who is my friend from before Rohit came into my life. There's Ishant— there are so many.

But Ro... he is just—

"Vi," Rohit called, which broke Virat's thoughts.

Virat turned to look, only to see the concern in Rohit's eyes.

"Look, I don't know what made you this angry. I'm sorry for whatever it was. Please, khana kha le— you'll get sick, and I really don't want that," Rohit said softly.

Virat didn't know what came over him. He just leapt forward and hugged Rohit, surprising him. He just needed it at that moment. It was the only thing that could calm him.

"Vi, you okay?" Rohit asked, not hugging him back, confused and surprised.

Rohit whispering in his ear was giving shivers down Virat's spine.

As Virat hugged him tighter, Rohit hesitated, but then hugged him back.

It was not strange for Rohit; they hugged each other all the time. And Virat wasn't okay, so Rohit might as well be there for him.

For Virat, it was peace— peace to his chaotic mind and feelings. To have Rohit close to him— he didn't know what it was, but it just calmed him so much.

"Khana khaye?" Rohit asked after a minute, as Virat still wasn't ready to let go.

Virat snapped back to his senses upon hearing that, slowly breaking the hug. He nodded in agreement for dinner, and Rohit brought the plate to the balcony.

Rohit fed him dinner even though Virat said he would eat himself. Rohit just didn't let him.

"Why are you making it more difficult for me, Ro?" Virat thought to himself.

Once they lay down on the bed, Virat noticed Rohit was asleep. He looked at him, and a lone tear trickled down his eye— only to think that he was just another friend in Rohit's life.

No— he needed to think outside of all this. These thoughts... he needed a distraction.

He took his phone and texted one of his friends— after the match, he was going to go there instead of thinking about all these feelings.

Once done, he dozed off, just looking at Rohit for what felt like forever.

Virat woke up in the morning to see Rohit already awake and drinking coffee.

"How come you woke up first today?" Virat asked, rubbing his eyes.

Before he could apply pressure on his elbow to sit up, Rohit held him by his shoulders to help him sit properly. All Virat could do was stare at him.

"I just thought I shouldn't take the risk of you hurting your ankle again. You've already had enough pain these days," Rohit said, sitting in front of him— trying to make the atmosphere lighter.

"Did you sleep late? Because usually, you're up early," Rohit asked, taking a sip of his coffee.

"A little later than usual," Virat replied, taking the coffee from him and sipping it.

"Since when do you drink vanilla-flavored coffee?" Virat asked, handing the cup back to him.

Rohit just took the last sip. "I don't know, once you were drinking it and I took it from you— so I guess from that time. Now it's my favorite too," he said.

"Elbow okay? We have a match in the evening," Rohit asked, concerned as he checked on Virat's hand.

Virat couldn't even answer him as Rohit touched him— it was just so different when Rohit was close to him.

"Great! Here we go again!" Virat thought, feeling those feelings come back in the morning.

Virat got freshened up and came back to the room to see Rohit talking on the phone.

"Hey Vi, Pollard is asking about having dinner after the match. I said yes— me, you, and him!"

"Ro... I—"

"Please don't say no. Please, Vi," Rohit requested, coming closer to him.

"Ahh, again," Virat thought, seeing Rohit close to him, his eyes pleading.

"Okay," Virat said, agreeing with him, and Rohit hugged him in response.

Virat couldn't help but sigh. He didn't hug him back, though, because if he did, he knew he wouldn't be able to let go.

"Let's go. We have a warm-up session," Rohit broke the hug, not even realizing Virat didn't hug him back.

At the time of the match, Mahi went for the toss. Virat saw Pollard with his arm around Rohit, and Rohit was laughing at something.

He felt a burning sensation inside, but he tried to distract himself and focus on the match.

Virat hit the winning four, and Rohit just hugged him.

"You did it, you were awesome!" Rohit said.

Virat smiled at his excitement, just realizing how Rohit's compliment made everything better.

"Chal, dinner pe jaana hai Polly ke sath," Virat heard, and now he was scared of his feelings.
