"I missed you so much," Virat heard Rohit say.

It was always Virat who would say this, but hearing Rohit say it made him feel more loved. But again, there was something in his tone that made Virat break the hug and take a look at Rohit.

Rohit's hands were still on Virat's waist while Virat took a look at him.

And it scared him to the core. Rohit looked extremely tired; he had lost weight, and there were dark circles around his eyes. The shine in his eyes was gone.

Virat was about to go on a full rant about why he wasn't taking care of himself, but he noticed that this wasn't normal. There was something else to it, so he decided to handle it calmly.

Virat put his hand on Rohit's cheek, caressing it gently, to which Rohit leaned into the touch. "Tired?" Virat asked softly.

"Little," Rohit replied.

"Why don't you get freshened up? I'll arrange dinner for us," Virat suggested.

Rohit nodded. Virat noticed that Rohit didn't leave him; he just pulled him into another hug, knowing that Rohit needed it.

"Have you noticed where we are?" Virat asked, breaking the hug.

"Maldives, right?" Rohit said.

"Of course, that was written on the ticket, Ro, but..." Virat took his hand in his and dragged him to the other side of the room. "Look," he said.

"This... this was on my wish list for so many days," Rohit said, taking in the view. It was his favorite cottage in the Maldives, surrounded by water.

"I know. Do you like the surprise?" Virat asked, his eyes full of hope.

"I loved it," Rohit said, hugging him again. For a moment, he thought he was being too clingy, but as Virat hugged him back, he felt that, though fading a little, the warmth he needed was still there-for the time being.

Rohit broke the hug and went to freshen up while Virat arranged dinner.

Rohit entered their room. It was perfect, just like he had imagined it to be. The water shimmered in the moonlight, and there was a big transparent window in the room, making it feel like they were lying under the stars.

He loved it so much.

How lucky he was to have Virat in his life, someone who remembered every little detail of his wishes and favorites.

Rohit removed his jacket and T-shirt, then put on a normal shirt with shorts. Suddenly, that feeling returned. He didn't know why he was feeling uncomfortable.

He tried to calm himself down and not think about it, but he just couldn't. There was a voice inside his head telling him how it didn't look good on him.

"Ro, dinner is ready," he heard Virat's voice call out.

He quickly changed into a hoodie and lounge pants, which covered him fully.

"Are you cold?" Virat held his hand and checked his forehead with the other. He couldn't help but ask, noticing the outfit.

Rohit didn't know what to say, how to explain his insecurities to Virat.

"I guess a bit, nothing to worry about though," Rohit said, lying. Virat didn't press further and simply told him to take a seat.

Rohit kept looking at the food. It was his favorite dal and rice-home-cooked, exactly what he had been craving during the IPL. But for some reason, he couldn't bring himself to eat it.

Virat took two or three bites and noticed that Rohit was just staring at his food. He shifted his chair closer to him and offered him a bite from his own hands.

"Kya hua? Acha nahi hai? Kuch aur banau ya order karu? It can arrive in a bit," Virat asked, seeing the uncomfortable expression on Rohit's face as he ate from Virat's hand.

Rohit knew that he was like an open book to Virat. He wouldn't be able to hide his feelings, especially now that it was just the two of them here.

"Love?" Virat called softly, noticing that Rohit was lost in thought.

"Nahi, it's good. It's delicious," Rohit replied, taking another bite as Virat offered it.

Virat noticed that Rohit's demeanor had changed so much. It was really different. The smile on his face was so minimal, it was starting to worry Virat.

Rohit finished the meal and then went outside to get some fresh air. Virat noticed how quiet and distant Rohit seemed.

He needed to do something to understand what was bothering Rohit so much.

Virat was in the kitchen wrapping up the dinner things. Rohit wanted to help him, but at that point, the fresh air seemed really good.

Once Virat was done, he went outside to find Rohit leaning on the door. He hugged Rohit from behind. Again, he felt Rohit go stiff or flinch slightly, but he didn't ask anything, not wanting to make Rohit upset, especially since he already looked so tired.

"Better?" Virat asked softly, rubbing his thumb over Rohit's knuckles as Rohit held his hands from the front. Rohit simply nodded.

Soon, Virat could feel Rohit relax in his arms as he leaned back into the embrace. Rohit had missed this warmth so much. It felt so much better in Virat's arms.

Virat moved closer to him, but in the next second, Rohit moved away, unintentionally pushing him a little.

"Um, sorry, it's just cold outside, you know," Rohit said, quickly going back inside, leaving a shocked Virat behind.

Rohit was pacing when he reached their room. What did he do? What was wrong with him? Did he just push Virat away?

Virat recovered from the shock and went inside. His hands were shaking slightly from what had just happened. He didn't want to overthink it, but something wasn't right. He took a few deep breaths and decided to give Rohit some space.

After some time, Virat took water for Rohit and entered the room. He saw Rohit sitting on the couch with his head in his hands.

Virat took a seat beside him-not too close, not too far.

"Rohit," he called softly, placing his hand on his shoulder.

Rohit immediately hugged him by the waist, burying his head in Virat's stomach. "I am sorry, sorry," he mumbled, feeling guilty for moving away from Virat. Virat felt tears soaking into his shirt.

"Shh... shh, Ro, it's okay," Virat said, rubbing his back and running his fingers through his hair gently.

Rohit held him tightly, "Don't leave me," he mumbled.

"I am not leaving you, Ro. I'm here," Virat reassured him, holding him like a child. Rohit was fully curled in a ball on his lap.

After some time, Virat tried to move as he noticed Rohit was shivering a bit from crying. He wanted to get the comforter but, with Rohit holding him so tightly, he couldn't move.

"Ro, baby, listen, let me get the comforter," Virat said softly, caressing his hair.

Rohit didn't let go.

"Just one sec, only one sec, I promise," Virat said again, and quickly grabbed the comforter from the bed. He wanted to tell Rohit to move to the bed, but for now, he skipped it.

Virat came back to his side, and Rohit went back to his position, hiding his face. Virat covered them both with the comforter, and Rohit curled even more into him.

Virat held him properly as he was mostly laying on his lap.

Rohit couldn't help but feel guilty about how Virat was caring for him, even though he didn't feel like he deserved it.

Virat noticed Rohit starting to doze off as he ran his fingers through his hair. He had calmed down a bit.
