You walk over to the lake to check on how the clubs are going there. You find the Pop Music Club accompanied by Jade trying their luck at the lake.
You wave to the boys. "Hey, guys!"
Kalim smiles and waves cheerfully to you. "Hey, Y/N! Here to check up on us?"
You stop beside the boys. "Any luck so far?"
Cater shakes his head with a sigh. "I've had no luck whatsoever. I've got the bait on right, but it's just not... baiting."
"Likewise." Lilia adds. "I'm not at my best when the weather's this perfect. It's a good thing we have Jade."
Jade pulls out a fish out of the water with his fishing pole. It lands on the ground and flops around. You make sure to hold Grim so he doesn't snag any of the boy's fish
"I just caught my fifth fish." Jade smiles. "We'll want another thirty if we need to make three days' worth of meals and also preserve some of them."
Grim tilts his head. "Jade's fishin' with a pole, huh? Floyd just hopped in the water and caught his by hand."
"By hand? Oh, was he in mer-form?" Cater plays with a strand of his hair.
Kalim laughs. "That sounds fun! I'd love to go for a swim in the lake."
"That sounds very much like him." Jade chuckles. "I imagine he found catching the fish one at a time too tedious. I won't be doing that, though. I'm here to enjoy the mountains, after all. This isn't just a lake, it's a mountain lake. Simply sitting here by the water lets me soak in the atmosphere. Basking in the sun's rays, listening to the rustling of the trees, casting a line into the water and waiting. How luxurious."
Grim whispers to you. "Those brothers are like night 'n day sometimes..."
You can't help but laugh. "Pretty much."
Lilia smiles to the twin. "Absolutely, Jade. Moments like these are what make the mountains so charming. I'd enjoy it more if I could catch something, of course."
Cater examines his fishing rod in case something's wrong with it. "Is there some trick we're missing? We're all using the same rods and bait."
"Oh, it's simple." Jade states. "You just need to consider the fish's feelings."
Everyone goes quiet for a moment.
"What're you on about?" Grim questions.
"To put it another way, you need to understand how the fish behave in their environment." Jade explains. "From what I can see, there are a lot of nocturnal fish in this lake. During the day, they lurk in the shadows of plants and rocks. You'll have an easier time catching them if you focus on those spots."
Kalim nods in understanding. "Oh, I see! I've been casting my line right into the middle of the lake where it's sunny."
"Also, while many nocturnal fish are nearsighted, they can see movement exceptionally well." Jade adds. "So bob your rod and draw attention to your bait, but do so slowly. Sudden movements could scare them off."
Lilia lets out a laugh. "I've never considered a fish's eyesight before."
"All right, let's put these tips to the test!" Cater casts his line out. "Cast into the shade, move slowly... I've got a bite!"
You take out the ghost camera and take pictures as the boys go.
Jade stands beside Cater to advise him. "Now wait a moment before you start reeling it in. That way the hook is more likely to catch on the fish."
