As you get ready to board the cart, Trey stands next to you, smiling as he adjusts his glasses. "Would you like to sit next to me during the ride?"
You smile bashfully. "I would."
You and the boys get into your seats with you and Trey in the middle, Cater and Ace the front, and Lilia and Grim in the back. The safety guards slide into place and securely lock you in. The ride jolts forward and slowly moves towards the massive hill.
Trey looks to you. "You ready?"
"Maybe..." You feel your heart racing in anticipation for the drop. "I'm actually a little nervous..."
Trey smiles and holds your hand assuringly. "It'll be okay. Remember, I'll always protect you. At all cost."
You smile back and hold his hand tightly as the cart climbs the hill. All too soon, the cart reaches the top and goes over the heart stopping drop. Gravity takes control and the cart flies down the track. You cling onto Trey's arm, burrowing your head into his shoulder. Despite the wind rushing through your ears, you can hear Ace cheering behind you.
"Faster, faster! Cater, put your hands in the air! Whoo-hoo!"
The cart splashes out of the wale's mouth and water is sent everywhere. The cart slows to a stop and the PA speaks through the speakers.
"Congratulations on making it out of the dark belly of the whale alive! Thank you for riding Whale Escape. Have a 'whale' of a time in the rest of Playful Land!"
You and the boys climb out of the cart and walk out of the ride.
"Dude, Playful Land's roller coasters... are so... AWESOME!" Ace exclaims.
"That's one way to describe it." You laugh, still feeling the adrenaline rush.
Lilia lets out a breath. "That was quite an ordeal..."
Ace is still clearly pumped up. "Ernesto wasn't kidding about it being a long ride! We must've been on it for ten minutes at least, don't you think?
"Easily more..." Trey shakes his head. "That took forever. And there was never a single second we weren't swinging left or right or going upside-down... I lost count of how many loop-de-loops we went through! I couldn't tell which way was which by the time all was said and done."
Ace grins. "No kidding. It was nonstop thrills from start to finish. I could ride that all day! That bit at the end where the rollercoaster barely escapes under the whale teeth seriously gave me goosebumps."
"Those spikey white things, you mean?" Trey questions. "I was wondering what they were supposed to be."
"You were?" Ace quirks an eye. "Kinda hard to see 'em glinting in the light like that and think they could be anything BUT teeth."
"Actually, they suggested people take their glasses off to avoid losing them, so my vision was pretty blurry." Trey informs. "Whale teeth aren't something you get to see every day. I missed out."
Ace scratches his neck. "You were terrified on the ride, yet you still wish you could've seen the thing's teeth..?"
"Okay, it was definitely exciting and lasted a good while, sure." Cater says. "But that pool halfway through! We totally dove underwater, right? They warned us we might get splashed--not soaked all the way through!"
Ace nods excitedly. "Oh yeah, the part where we escaped the whale's mouth into the ocean. You and I were sitting in the front row, so we got the full brunt of it!"
Cater shakes a hand, splattering water droplets. "Sheesh! I was totally unprepared, so I didn't do anything to protect my poor smartphone. I thought it was a waterlogged goner for sure!"
