THE AIR WAS TENSE the illness had began to spread like wildfire. more and more people had began to make their way into cell block a, needing to be isolated away from those who weren't sick. colette had been helping make people as comfortable as she could, she supposed she'd already been exposed to the sickness.
her knee bounced rapidly, her arms folded over her chest. she leaned into the splinter ridden chair, the old wood creaking when she moved. sasha had fallen ill, being quarantined into block a, colette had done everything she could to make the women feel comfortable.
yet with no medication, her attempts seemed to be futile. the best she could offer was making sure the women stayed hydrated, and she often replaced the cold damp wash cloth atop her forehead. sasha had repeatedly thanked the girl for the help.
rough coughs would escape her lips, blood slowly seeping from her mouth. it worried colette, she didn't want to lose another friend. hershel sucked in a breath of air, glancing around the library table, at those who sat around the squared table and at michonne who leaned against one of the shelves.
"the infection is spreading to everyone who survived the attack in cell block d. sasha, caleb, and now others." hershel told, lightly clicking his tongue as he spoke. colette nodded slowly, raising her sleeved arm to wipe away at the sweat on her forehead. "so what do we do?" carol questioned softly, her eyes focused solely on hershel. she snuck sneaky glances at colette,
"first of all, cell block a is isolation. we need to keep the sick people there like we tried with karen and david." hershel told, the grimes teen nodded in agreement, blinking harshly as her ears began to ring. attempting to make the noise in her ears die down. "the hell are we gonna do about that?" daryl questioned, his eyes glanced between those in the room. cole kissed her teeth, not wanting to think on her dead friend. she couldn't think to hard about who she had lost, or else she'd start to cry again.
she was tired of crying, it felt like that's all she'd been doing for months. "ask rick to look into it. make a time line- who, when, where. what're we gonna do to stop this?" carol questioned, raising a brow at the green man. the closest thing they had to a second doctor. colette glanced between the two, her tongue glided over her lips, a shaky breath leaving her lips.
hershel slowly shook his head at the women's words. "there's no stopping it. you get it, you just have to go through it." he explained softly, his southern accent smooth in his voice as he spoke.
michonne kissed her teeth, "but then it just kills you?" she questioned, hershel turned in his chair to face the women. he slowly shook his head, "it's the symptoms that kill you." he told, colette leaned forward slightly, forearms resting atop the wood. "if we can find medicine, could that help people get through it?" she questioned softly, pushing her hair behind her ears. eyes focused solely on hershel,
