Ida was tapping on her typewriter when Freida came into the room, Ida immediatly stood from her desk in defference but Freida insisted that she sit down.

"Ida, is Wilhelm inside?" Freida asked.

"Yes, your majesty. He is just finishing his Christmas speech on the radio. Hilde should be out momentarily to confirm the end of the broadcast." Ida reported. "May I continue?"

"Oh, yes of course. Don't let me disturb you." Freida said, she sat down on one of the chairs adjacent to the wall. Two Imperial Guards flanked the door leading to the Kaiser's study, resolute both in posture and expression.

Freida could faintly hear Wilhelm speak in the other room, Ida in contrast, was unphased

Freida could faintly hear Wilhelm speak in the other room, Ida in contrast, was unphased. Freida greatly admired Ida, she was planning their wedding, running the civil service, and managing the affairs of the Kaiser. Realising this, Freida hoped to be as useful if not more useful than Ida to Wilhelm in running Germany. Freida's head quickly turned as the guards clicked their heels as Wilhelm and Hilde walked out of the office.

"Thank you Hilde, and have a good Christmas." Wilhelm said, Hilde smiled and went away. Wilhelm smiled upon seeing Freida. "Freida, my dear." Wilhelm said happily, hugging Freida and kissing her lips warmly. "Is there anything you need my dear, for your company is more than enough for me." Freida blushed at the compliment.

"There is something, love." Freida said. "As Christmas is coming up, I was wondering if we could go somewhere together. Away from all the hustle and bustle of Berlin?" Wilhelm pondered, and then something popped into his head.

"Yes, there is!" Wilhelm explained. "A while ago the RSGB (Reich Engineering Office) gave plans for a hunting lodge in the Bavarian forrests. They marketed it as a place to getaway and be more private. Would you like to go there?"

"That sounds fantastic Wilhelm!" Freida exclaimed as she pressed Wilhelm's face against her chest. Freida was taller than Wilhelm was, but that was one reason why he found Freida attractive. Wilhelm blushed and before long the order was given for the servants to start packing the couple's belongings. There wasn't much and could be loaded inside a single train cart. Wilhelm's staff car and the Praetorian Guards motorbikes were also loaded onto the train. Wilhelm and Freida climbed on board and the Kaiser's train steamed north to Bavara.
