Chapter 69 - Valkyrie

Camden walked into a nice, spacious flat in Berlin. Not to close enough to the city centre that they would get SB snooping around, but far enough away that their little meeting would go undiscovered.

It would be the first time the group met for over a year. The plan had changed as many times as new members were inducted into the conspiracy, or were transferred or killed in action.

A loyal guard, sporting the rank of captain asked Camden to hand over her papers, to show she was part of the plot. She did so, and was let through.

Already inside were the architects of the conspiracy: General Walther Model who commanded the 4th reserve corps and General Erich Ludendorff who was chief of operations staff for the reserve army.

Camden was head of the operation to assasinate the Kaiser, that was the only part of the plan that hadnt changed. Only once that was achieved could they control Germany.

Also present was General Gerhard von Scharnhorst, head reserve army communication office and the one who would take command of the German Army once the Kaiser had been killed.

A woman called Colonel Streiker was also present. She was Colonel of the Berlin Pioneer Reserve Division, an explosives expert. Who had provided the means Camden would use to kill the Kaiser.

A brownshirt Reichsleiter by the name of Franz Stieffer, a high ranking member of the propaganda ministry was present and colluding as well.

Rear Admiral Rieker of the Kreigsmarine was there to, representing his own plotters within the navy. Similar to Air Commodore von Kratz representing the agents in the Luftwaffe.

And finally, in his green uniform. Gruppenfuhrer Wexler of the Berlin Ordungspolizei, and General Hindermann of 7th Corps in the Eastern part of Germany: Baden.

"Now that we are all finally here,' Model said, "we can begin."

"Many of you know that our ppan has been subject to nunerous changes, I will now bring you all up to date as tomorrow we enact this plan." Camden explained, this spurred some muttering from some of the officers.

"Tommorow Colonel Camden will attend a military breifing orgnaised by Field Marshal von Rundstedt and Marshal Hammerstein. This will take place at the Max's Lair and the Kaiser will be in attendence." Model explained. "Camden will arm the explsoives hidden in her breifcases, and place the briefcase as close to the Kaiser as possible." Model then turned to Colonel Streiker, "Colonel I trust the explosives you have provided will be suitable?"

"Indeed General," Streiker then spoke up as she explained to the group. "Two blocks of plastic explosives should be enough. They qare small enough to conceal in a breifcase along with an arming mechanism. However, the cincrete walls of the bunker should magnifiy the blast exponentially, killing everyone inside."

"Thank you Colonel. Once the bombs have detonated General Scharnhorst will dissconnect all communications, isolating the whole complex as Camden leaves and boards a plane back to Berlin. Meanwhile if Marshal von Manstein or Blummentritt cannot be persuaded," Camden scoffed knowing Blummentritt didn't have a disloyal bone in his body, "General Ludendorf will arrest them and execute Operation Valkyrie."

Camden spoke up to explain. "Operation Valkyrie is an emergency order written by the Kaiser, empowering the reserve army to take control of all judicial forces, arrest and subdue all SB personel, and take control of all the military districts inside Prussia. We control Berlin, we control Prussia, if we control Prussia, we control the Empire. However General Hindermanns men will make sure our troops in Baden do as their told. Securing the Empire from East and West."

"Once Valkyrie has been commenced, Ludendorf will place the entire Prussian reserve army on standby and notify all district commanders that the SB are attempting a coup. Colonel Streiker will oversee transmission of these orders, allowing us to control military forces across Prussia. We will first secure the federal district, which includes the interior ministry and the Reichstag. Then we will secure the SB headquarters and arrest all SB, Stasi and Ausland personel. By then Colonel Camden will have returned to Berlin and assumed command of the Reserve Army, followed by Scharnhorst who will declare himself commander of the armed forces." Model explained. "I will then give an address as the new Reich President. And then, God willing, we can save German from total destruction." Model then took out an identity card. "This will show you are a member of the operation, no one gets in or out of the perimeter without one. Long live Sirenen."
