The talk with Ayato went on a bit longer before I finally left.

He had a few things he needed to do to prepare and it would be a bit before we received a response from the King of Sumeru.

So for now I was heading outside for a small break.

Capitano followed silently behind me.

Nobody bothered to say a word to me as they passed by. They must have noticed I was in no mood for talking.

It wasn't hard to see how anxious I was feeling.

When we finally made it outside the cold air hit me and I let out a breath I had been holding.

Thankfully there was nobody out here at the moment. I made my way over to a small bench among the flowers and took a seat.

Capitano sat beside me and the two of us looked out at the kingdom below.

For a few minutes the both of us sat in silence.

Capitano was the first to break it, "Are you alright?"

I sucked in another breath trying to regain my composure, "I'm alright. Its just this has been going on for so long with no end in sight. We are no closer to resolving this then we were years ago. War usually ends with a victor and a loser, but is it so bad to wish there could be neither?"

Capitano sighed and shook his head, "I cannot answer that unfortunately. War hardly ends with either side coming to an agreement. I'm not privy to the details of this war so I cant say what the outcome may be."

Thats right... since Capitano isn't from these lands he wouldn't know whats going on, but it is surprising.

"You've heard nothing of it during your travels?" I asked.

He shook his head, "I have, but only rumors. I've never stopped to ask anyone the full story."

I nodded, "I see. Well the two of our Kingdoms have been at war for a long time now. Before the war the two of our kingdoms had a bit of tension. This was because we both had massive power over our respective parts of these lands along with a huge military force. Having said that, the royalty of each of our nations did get along. I remember having dinners and get togethers with them as a child. Though my memories are foggy nothing seemed to be wrong. My mother was always an advocate for peace among the nations. She wanted nothing more than to see our kingdoms thrive..."

Capitano continued to listen.

"For a long time they did. That was until my mother died. After that happened everything fell apart. The relationships between the two Kingdoms were crushed that very day. The people of our nation are angry... Ayato is angry, Thoma is angry, and I am also angry. I want peace, but justice also must be served."

"Why did things fall apart?" Capitano asked.

I felt my throat close up a bit.

I looked down at my hands and I could feel some of the anger and hatred begin to bubble, "They murdered her in cold blood."

The air around us fell still and Capitano remained silent.

"There were no signs, nothing," I said bitterly, "One day out of the blue they had just killed her."

My stomach sank.

It was a day I would never forget.

"Do not take offense but you are certain it was the Kingdom of Snezhnaya?"

I nodded before looking up at him, "I saw them with my own two eyes."

He did not reply immediately.

So I continued, "There were three of them. Each with the symbols of Snezhnaya. They didn't know I was there. Mother had hid me before they could notice."

I could not see the emotion behind his mask, but I could tell my words had taken him aback.

"I watched as each sword passed through her chest. Over and over again. The kindest and most sweetest lady in the whole world was brutally murdered right before my very eyes."

Capitano let out a breath, "I can see where your hatred comes from. I apologize for bringing up such a sensitive subject I hadn't realized that was the case."

I waved him off, "There was no way for you to know, but now you do. I long for things to end, but they won't end until someone has paid the price. Having said that, this doesn't mean I wish to see so many others die. I want justice, but justice isn't killing a whole nation. There must be another way."

"Have the murderers not been caught?" Capitano asked.

I shook my head, "No. The previous King of Snezhnaya thought it was absurd and took offense to Ayatos claims. The relationship had begun to sour and not long after war had occurred. The people here were furious. There was not a soul who had something against my mother. To think that she could be murdered so cruelly by a nation we trusted and cared for. That was what was really absurd."

I took in another breath, "Sorry I think I'm just a little agitated now."

"You have no reason to apologize. Perhaps we should leave things here for now and focus on something else." Capitano commented

I nodded in agreement.

The more I talked about it the more upset I'd get. I just couldn't shake that image from my head and something told me that for as long as I'd live I'd always see it.

"Has anyone ever taught you how to use a sword?"

His question surprised me a bit, "Err I've worked a bit here and there, but nothing like the knights."

"I see. Then lets go. Perhaps you'll find your magic in the process as well."
