"Ayato?"

I opened up the doors to his study without waiting for a response.

As I had suspected the man was inside and at his desk. A few of his advisors nearby as he seemed to be looking over some papers.

Everyone looked up in my direction when I burst in and the advisors nodded in greeting.

"Y/N. I apologize I was going to inform you earlier, but as you see I needed to take care of things."

I nodded my head in understanding.

"Lets discuss more later I need to speak with my niece privately." Ayato said to the other men.

They took that as their que to leave and almost everyone left the room. The only ones that remained were Ayato, Thoma, Capitano, and myself.

The door closed shut and Ayato let out a sigh.

I took a seat in one of the nearby chairs and looked at Ayato for an explanation.

He shook his head before speaking, "I knew he was up too something, but I hadn't assumed he would go after Sumeru so soon."

"But how? The king doesn't even like him." I commented.

"No, but his mother does. She was the one who encouraged him to speak with King Ajax. She like the rest of us wants this war to end, but it seems the only way it will end is if one of us is defeated."

I felt my heart sink.

"I see... that makes more sense. The former queen does have a kind heart, but regardless this isn't good for us. If Sumeru agrees to back them they'll gain more power."

Thoma nodded in agreement, "We sent out a messenger earlier hopefully we'll get word back soon. If King Ajax plans to negotiate with them then so will we."

"Though there is one other thing. It seems him leaving for Sumeru isn't our only issue. It's possible this move may be a distraction." Ayato commented.

"A distraction?" I asked.

He nodded, "I've heard some rumors that they'll be trying to send in a group from the east side. Seems they may have used King Ajax leaving as a way to try and catch us off guard."

Wow... now thats sneaky.

"Ive already dispatched some knights," Thoma replied, "They should be there soon."
