We snuck through the palace avoiding people as we went, specifically Ayato and Thoma.
Thankfully, it was stil pretty early and most of the hustle and bustle wouldn't start until the sun rise.
With that in mind the two of us tried to escape before it got too active.
They only ones wandering around now were some knights so it wasn't all that difficult to sneak past them.
I hid behind one of the pillars waiting for a knight to leave his post. Capitano stood beside me out of sight as well.
"His highness isn't going to be impressed." Capitano commented.
I rose an eyebrow and looked up at him, "Who's knight are you? His? Or mine?"
Capitano shook his head and I looked back over to see the other knight leaving.
"Perfect! Hurry! Hurry!" I grabbed onto Capitano hand without a second thought and the two of us hurried out and past the guard.
Our footsteps stayed light as we headed straight for the backdoor.
I could feel the adrenaline pumping through me as I grasped the door and flung it open.
The sight before me was silent. The sun wasn't up yet but you could tell it was getting lighter. The sky was still a dark shade of blue and you could still see the mon lighting it up.
I smiled to myself doing one last scan before deciding it was clear enough to keep going.
I pulled Capitano out with me closing the door to prevent anyone else from finding us.
I let out a sigh of relief and began walking toward the far exit.
"Hopefully Ayato won't be too mad. Its for good reasons plus I left him a note so there no need to worry."
I could feel Capitano stare into my back.
I looked back at him with a guilty smile, "What you don't think he'll like my note? I think it sounded rather elegant."
"And which class did you skip?" Capitano inquired.
"Etiquette." I smiled stopping at the back gate to unlatch and open it.
Before he could reply I interrupted him, "Before you say anything! It's all stuff I've learned before. I'm sure they'll make me work extra hard another day so I'm not missing much!"
Capitano sighed in response but acted no further. I was pleased to see he wasn't trying to persuade me otherwise.
The door to the back gate opened and I looked back at the castle once more.
I could see a bit of movement inside, but it was too late now.
It was time to go to town.
It didn't take us much time to arrive into town. I smiled relived to be out of that stuffy palace. Coming to town was always such a treat.
Like the palace the town was quiet. Only those who needed to be up early were up. Anyone else must have been getting up soon.
The sun had also begun to rise as we made it into town.
Lisa's place wasn't too far now either I could see the building from up the road.
I squeezed Capitano hand in excitement and sped up my pace. He was forced to follow closely behind me.
I knew Lisa wouldn't be open yet but she was definitely awake. That woman was up at all hours of the day and night for that matter. She would be surprised to see me up and at her door so early.
I stopped right before Lisa's door and knocked lightly.
There was no noise for a second before shuffling could be heard.
"Lisaaa," I called out her name, "Good morninggg..!"
The noise grew closer and the door to her library opened.
As suspected, the lady herself had been the one to open the door. A closed-mouth smile appeared on her face as she realized who was at her door.
"Good morning cutie! What are you doing here so early?"
I smiled politely, "I hope its not a problem but I wanted to do some more reading on magic and well I was told I needed to go outside..."
Lisa looked past me acknowledging Capitano with a smile.
Then her eyes drifted downward. They widened briefly before she giggled a bit.
"Its not a problem at all!" She looked back up at me her smile a little more mischievous than before, "You're always welcomed to come read here. You're knight as well."
I decided to glance down to see what Lisa had been looking at and I felt my heart rate pick up.
Immediately I let go of Capitano hand.
"Sorry! Sorry!" I apologized embarrassed.
Capitano didn't react only looking down at his hand for a moment before back up at us. Lisa on the other hand, was giggling like a school girl.
I could feel my whole face heat up and with a racing heart I pushed past her entering the library to avoid the situation.
"Stop laughing! Magic! I came here for magic!"
