Yae made her way over to the door opening it up to find not only Ayato, but Capitano as well.

My heart dropped into my chest and I gripped the sides of my dress.

Yae looked just as surprised but didn't keep that expression long before allowing them into the room. Ayato and Capitano entered the door closing behind them.

My heart was racing incredibly fast.

Had they heard that??

I looked over at Capitano. Unfortunately, I couldn't discern his emotions due to his helmet.  His arms were at his sides and he was standing as he usually did. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary but that didn't mean anything. For all I knew Capitano could be good at hiding things like that. I on the other hand was horrible...

I got up from my spot on the bed as they both looked toward me.

"Y/N how are you feeling?" Ayato asked.

"I-I'm alright yea I'm okay," I said stumbling over my words.

I looked back and forth between the two trying to see if their was any indication of them knowing what I had said. But neither showed anything.

Yae noticed me frantic and let out a low chuckle.

She walked over toward me placing a hand on my shoulder for reassurance.

"Nervous?" Ayato asked, "It's alright you'll be just fine. You'll have your knight so you won't be alone."

"I know," I replied, "I just can't help it. Its a very important trip."

Ayato nodded, "I understand but I have faith in you. You're going to be the future leader of this kingdom. You'll have to do many more trips like these. You need to get used to them now."

I took in a breath.

He was right. I was nervous for the trip but at least he hadn't caught on to why I was really nervous at the moment.

I snuck another glance at Capitano, only to find him staring back at me.

My heart raced and I darted my eyes back to Ayato.

"The carriage will be ready for your departure. I hope you're prepared to leave soon." He mentioned.

Yae spoke up, "Oh? So you're finally done discussing your secrets with her knight?"

Ayato rose an eyebrow he could tell Yae was being nosy.

"I'm not sure if informing him on the land layouts and culture count as secrets but perhaps." Ayato replied nonchalantly.

Yae chuckled a grin growing on her face.

She wouldn't push it. If there was anything else Ayato had told Capitano, he wasn't going to say it now. He had just made it clear.

"I think I'm ready to leave." I said looking around at everything.

The bags were packed. There really wasn't much more to do if Ayato and Capitano were finished.

"Good. We've finished our business as well. Lets head downstairs."

Ayato opened the door to my room and called out for some of the guards. The guards entered the room to pick up my bags and bring them down.

Ayato and Capitano were the first to leave. Yae and I stayed back a moment. When it was only the two of us she began to laugh.

Her hand on my shoulder tightened and I looked over at her with a glare.

"That was too close...!" I whisper yelled.

She grinned, "Very close. Too bad I'm sure you're knight would have been entertained."

"Be quiet Yae..." I whispered eyes darting toward the door to ensure no one would return.

She laughed some more before her voice turned serious, "On another note... I have some information."

The scowl fell from my face and my eyes darted toward her.

"What is it?" I asked.

Yae was no longer messing around.

"I've heard that the former Queen of Sumeru may have some information on your mother."

My heart fell in my chest.

"How'd you find out?" I inquired.

"Some friends of mine were travelling in Sumeru at the same time as King Ajax was visiting. It seemed the former Queen made more of an appearance and even spoke a bit. I'm not sure how your mother was brought up but thats what I was told. Take it with a grain of salt."

"Thank you Yae."

I appreciated the information, especially from Yae. Although she did a lot of gossiping and fooling around she was a sharp and intelligent woman. She knew my mother and she knew I had never given up in finding out more about her and what had happened.

There was no joking around with that sort of information.

It seemed I'd need to talk with the former Queen if I wanted to learn more.

"It's no problem. I'll keep an ear open. If I hear anything else I'll send you a letter."

"Thank you again Yae."

She gave me a soft smile rubbing my shoulder in comfort.

"Come lets go see the men before they get suspicious."

I gave her a smile in return before the two of us headed toward the door.

Sumeru...

That was where I had to go. I was going to find my answers and I was going to protect my kingdom.
