Ayato left the two of us alone after giving some departing words of advice.

I felt a little giddy as I glanced up at Capitano, but I was trying my best to contain those emotions.

Capitano was still staring down at me and I found myself at a loss for words.

I wasn't sure what to say or if it was even appropriate to make a comment on his appearance. Would it be awkward or weird for me to say something...?

My thoughts took over once more and the overthinking began.

It was only when he spoke did my thoughts quiet.

"You look lovely," His voice was low enough that only I could hear it.

My stomach was doing flips as I tried to keep myself in check. The compliment had surprised me and I couldn't help but feel a little nervous.

"You too— I mean handsome you look handsome—!" I tripped and stumbled over my words before realizing what I had said instead.

My face grew hot and I looked away immediately avoiding eye contact.

To my surprise a soft chuckle left his lips.

After recollecting myself I snuck a glance at Capitano. Thankfully, he was looking elsewhere now.

I let out a sigh, hoping he didn't think too much of the reaction.

No further words were needed as the two of us decided to head for the front of the palace. Capitano walked by my side and as we descended the stairs, I could see the carriage waiting outside.

I sped up my pace and as we approached the doors he opened them up for me to step out first. I thanked him as I passed the threshold to the outside.

Capitano followed right behind me and the carriage door was already waiting wide open.

I moved a little quicker. Although I was still a little nervous, Ayato's pep talk had comforted me.

I climbed up the stairs to the carriage and just as I hit the top stair my heel smacked the edge of the stair causing me to lose my balance.

I let out a sharp gasp and reached a hand out to grab the carriage. My hand missed the door and my body fell backward. Though it did not fall for long, as Capitano's hand cushioned my back.

"Careful," His voice caused goosebumps to run up my arms.

"Sorry," I hastily replied.

Capitano pushed me up so that I could grab hold of the carriage. His hand stayed in place until I was steady.

With a good grip I pulled myself into the carriage and sat down. I could still feel where his hand had just been placed.

Once Capitano was in, the carriage set off.

The event was going to be at one of the nobles manors. It was large enough, especially for the amount of people they were going to be hosting. People from all over the kingdom would be gathering after all.

Now it was finally my turn to attend too. Except thankfully, I wouldn't be alone.

There was a strange sense of comfort I found from Capitano's presence. Along with these new feelings I was discovering, I felt safe by his side. It was a bit naive but I felt as if nothing could touch me.

Having a knight hadn't been as bad as I initially thought it would be. It was nice to have someone around to share some of my experiences with. Not only that but Capitano did not just treat me like the princess. It felt like I had an actual friend I could rely on.

My heart melted at the thought and I smiled to myself. I must have looked like an idiot, but I was happy with the situation.

"How are you feeling?"

Capitano's question caused me to retreat from my thoughts and look his way.

I smiled at him this time, "I think I'll be alright. It will be a new experience sure, but maybe it will be nice."

Capitano nodded his head in agreement.

I kept talking, "Who knows maybe I'll even make some new friends as well... okay that might be wishful thinking."

He didn't say anything to that but I could feel his stare.

He didn't believe me either.

I laughed a little, just as the carriage began to slow down.

My eyes flashed to the window and from my spot I could see the manor. The reason we had halted was because there were so many other carriages up ahead. Just like us, they had begun to arrive and I could tell from here the party was already very lively.

My stomach turned to knots as I noticed the vast amount of people.

"Okay I lied..." I said in a whisper.

Capitano chuckled and shook his head in disappointment.

"Hey— Hey! I said maybe not for sure... now I'm saying no way!"

He laughed some more of that deep laugh of his and my heart quickened in response. My eyes flickered back over to the window and I tried to focus on anything else. Unfortunately the sight of all those people was not a helpful picture.

Capitano must have noticed I was freaked out because his next words helped to soothe my mind.

"Its alright. They'll love you, Princess."

Although his words did not seem like much, his encouragement made me feel a little stronger.
