The next morning I woke up in my own bed. The events of how I ended up there were fuzzy. I had remembered being in the carriage with Capitano and getting out of it, but not what transpired afterwards.
As I sat up in bed trying to recall things, a dream that occurred last night resurfaced in my memories.
I could feel his presence behind me. There was no fear as I already knew who it was.
His hands wrapped carefully around my waist...
As I looked down I could see his black gloves holding me gently.
A shiver ran up my spine and I felt something brush against the crook of my neck.
I reached a hand up to stroke the side of his head. My fingers ran threw his hair as his body relaxed against me.
"Y/N."
The brief memory of the dream was interrupted by a knocking at the door. My body jolted up in surprise and my face burned red.
"Y-Yes?" I called out my voice a tinge shaky.
"The King would like a word Princess." It was one of the maids.
"Thank you," I replied trying to compose myself.
After the maid left I sat in bed staring at my blanket.
My mind could not be torn away from that dream.
That was most certainly Capitano in my dreams...
My heart rate sped up upon admitting that fact in my head.
It seemed the feelings I had of him were growing stronger by the day. That dream had proved it. It was still a bit startling. Had I really grown that interested in him that I was now having dreams about him?
I put a hand to my face, it was warm.
When had my thoughts changed from him being my knight to...
I couldn't help but be flustered.
He was my knight. It was his job to protect me. He didn't have any further obligations... Just because he was kind to me did not mean anything. I am the princess after all. What was he supposed to do be rude?
I took in a breath.
Even if that wasn't the case. What would uncle think? I knew he wanted me to have the chance to find someone but would he even approve of such a relationship? The princess and her knight? That sounded like something straight from a fairy tale.
