Ayla looks around the room which is filled with people she loves even though she hasn't known all of them for that long.
It's the last night of the year and Daniel's entire family is here, her dad, Michael, both Blakes. Pretty much the same group they celebrated Christmas with.

Tonight is different though. Her and Daniel are going to tell everybody in the room the big news.
They decided on a way to tell them and now she can't wait for the faces when the people they care about find out what's going on.

Ever since she found out about her pregnancy she has started to get some symptoms. Or maybe she had them before but she has only just noticed them.
Her boobs did indeed get bigger, much to Daniel's delight. She has been feeling a bit nauseous in the morning. Not so bad that she had to throw up, but she can't wait too long with eating when she wakes up or it will get worse.

She has been peeing like crazy, it's as if her bladder shrunk to the size of a grape which is annoying, especially because the house is in a very remote location and when they go somewhere it's always a longer drive.
She has had to cross her legs more than once while they were out.

Of course she can go in the bushes, but it's Australia. The animals that live there all seem to be able to kill you and wanting to kill you. So squatting in some shrubs isn't really a relaxing idea.
So far she's been able to hold it in until they were somewhere with a toilet, but she hopes it won't get worse than it is now.

She was able to really embrace the fact that she was indeed pregnant and now she's just happy and excited about the whole thing. Just like Daniel who has already been looking at nursery ideas and is now doing a thorough investigation to find the best car seat and pram.

Ayla decided to tell Melissa after new years, they will go to Switzerland to visit the couple and then give them the news. It's going to be so amazing to go through this together with one of her best friends. They can share experiences and that's something Ayla really needs.

Then they are going to fly back to the UK a few days after that to tell Christian and Geri and hopefully Tina and Lando as well.
She doesn't want to tell it over the phone. It's too big news to not tell the important people in their lives in person.
She will have to find a moment to visit Amy as well, she will be starting to film Outlander soon and Amy and Sam will be in America for parts of it.
They will just have to find a moment to meet up so Amy can hear about her becoming an 'aunt'.

Ayla feels Daniel's presence behind her before she has even seen or heard him.
His warmth radiates to her and she leans back again his strong body.
"So what do you think? Will they be happy?" He asks her, already knowing the answer.
"I would be surprised if they aren't. Have you seen your sister? She keeps looking at us with that knowing smile. I'm sure she's going to be happy when the news is out. At least she won't have to keep it a secret much longer."

As the night progresses, more food is eaten, more bottles of wine and beer end up empty.
Ayla makes sure she doesn't drink anything with alcohol. Luckily nobody questions why. During Christmas she didn't drink either.

After her head injury she thought it would be better to stay away from alcohol, not because she usually drinks a lot, but for her recovery she felt it would be best to eat and drink healthy.
And now she has an even better reason to take good care of herself.

She has small talk with everybody during the evening, her anticipation growing as the time passes.
Michelle keeps giving her certain looks, but she's good at only doing that at times when nobody notices.

It's almost as if she has a partner in crime in Michelle. Neither Ayla or Daniel has told her how they are going to tell the others, but Daniel's sister does know they will drop the bomb tonight.
