The next morning Daniel wakes up not having a clue that Ayla hasn't slept at all.
During breakfast he does notice she's a bit quiet and she looks tired.
"Are you ok baby?" He asks her.
She's just moving her fruit over her plate without really eating anything and he's worried she might be sick.
"I'm fine. Just a bit tired. And I guess I'm still full from all the food I ate yesterday." She only tells half the truth. Yes she is tired, but she's not still full. She's feeling a bit nauseous and now she is driving herself crazy if that is because she's pregnant or just because she's stressing out so much.
"How about you take it easy today. Michael and I wanted to go for a long run, I might not have a seat next year, but if I have to jump in at some point, I have to be fit enough." Daniel asks.
Ayla's pale complexion really does worry him, maybe he shouldn't go away and just stay with her so he could keep an eye on her.
"I can stay home though. You don't seem to feel so good, so maybe I shouldn't go."
That's the opposite of what Ayla wants him to do. She needs him to leave the house, so she can go out and see if there's any pharmacies open so she can get a pregnancy test.
"No babe, just go. Maybe I'll just try to get some sleep while you are out. I'm fine, really."
Under the table she has her fingers and toes crossed that he doesn't decide to stay home after all.
It's only been a night of her thinking she might be pregnant and she's already losing her mind.
If she can take a test, at least she will know for sure. But she doesn't want him to know just yet. He will probably want to go with her, take the test with her and sure she would love the support, she can't cope with him getting hopeful and maybe destroying that hope. Or he could freak out and be disappointed when she is pregnant.
She may not even be pregnant, maybe the whole head injury and stress of her losing her memory has caused her body to delay her period. The chance of her getting knocked up right away isn't too big.
She always heard that the hormones of the pill need a while to leave the body. So it's probably just the stress.
Still, she needs to know for sure.
Daniel isn't really convinced, so to make sure he's not going to cancel on his training with Michael, she forces herself to eat a bit. It's a struggle, because her body really doesn't want any food, but she manages to eat a few pieces of fruit.
She then pretends to make herself comfortable on the couch and turns on the tv to watch Netflix.
Daniel goes to change into his sports clothes, he's not really sure if he should go, but when he comes back he finds Ayla all cuddled up on the couch watching Virgin River.
"Are you really sure you're ok baby?" He asks once again. Outside he can hear Michael's car drive up to the house, but he wouldn't mind telling Michael to go exercise on his own.
"Please Daniel just go. You don't want to watch this with me, trust me. Just go and train that sexy body of yours." She tries to joke.
It works, because Daniel goes to fills his water bottle, making a cup of tea for Ayla while he is in the kitchen. He's not sure what is wrong with her, but if she says she is just tired and not hungry because of all the food from the day before, he will just have to believe her.
Michael comes in and greets Ayla.
The two of them have formed a strong friendship and Ayla is always happy to see him.
"Hey there, good morning. You ok? You look as if you didn't sleep at all." Michael says as he sits down in one of the lounge chairs next to the couch.
"Is that your way of saying I look like shit." Ayla grins. Maybe she should audition for Outlander as well. With the acting she is doing now she might even get a part.
