Carla and Lisa

Part 68

The women pulled away and turned to see Gwen and Jeff standing slightly awkward. Lisa quickly stood up Carla not far behind her.  "Please take a seat. We did get you a drink. Did know what you would want" Lisa rambled. "That's quite alright" Jeff smiled as he went to get him and his wife a drink.

Gwen sat down smiling awkwardly at the women in front of her. Carla spotted Lisa check her phone and let out a small breath. Carla quickly squeezed her wife's thigh. Lisa gave her a small smile.

"I erm spoke this Joshua he's meeting us tomorrow. He said he was coming to Manchester tomorrow for your birthday this weekend" Gwen started the conversation. "Ahh yeah he and Hayden are staying over this weekend" Lisa smiled.

"I can't believe your 50 lisa." Gwen smiled "so much time we have missed"

"That's not my fault" Lisa argued back. Jeff had now joined them at the table.

"No. It's not. And we are so sorry" Jeff started. "It seems we have missed a lot of the years"

"Well that's what happens when you disown both your children within a decade of each other" Lisa fought back.

"Lisa we are sorry. Your father and I have been going to therapy" Gwen started. "We want to understand. We want to put things right before it's too late"

"You see it's hard for me to welcome you both back with open arms. The things you said the way you cut me off. I've spent the majority of my happy with who I am. And within 10 seconds of me seeing you both I was questioning my self." Lisa began.

"We totally understand. We want to get to know you. And the life you've been living" Jeff smiled finally looking towards Carla who gave him a smile.

"So you don't mind the fact that I'm gay?" Lisa said looking at both her mother and farther neither of them pulled a face or closed off in anyway.

"No. Like your mother said we have been talking to people trying to understand" Jeff smiled.

"Please Lisa we just want to get to know you" Gwen added.

"Before I tell you anything you both need to know things aren't going to go straight back to normal after tonight. I need to trust you. We need to trust you for our family's sake" Lisa lifted Carla's hand to her lips and placed a kiss to the wedding and engagement ring to her hand.

"It's not just the two of you?" Gwen questioned.

"No. We have a daughter called Betsy and a Son called Archie" Carla smiled finally feeling able to talk to them.

"We have grandchildren?" Jeff smiled.

"Yeah Betsy is 21 this year and Archie is 6 months old" Lisa smiled at the thought of their children.

"Wow quite the age gap! If there any chance we could see a picture of them?" Gwen smiled.

"Betsy was born from my first marriage. And Carla and I wanted more children so when we found Archie it seemed right we added him to our family." Lisa smiled as Carla went on her phone to get a photo of them.

"Your first marriage?" Jeff Question.

"Yes. My first wife Becky. Died on duty" Lisa smiled sadly. Carla's arm instinctively went around the back of Lisa's chair giving her shoulder a squeeze.

"I'm sorry to hear that Lisa." Jeff told her sincerely.

"How long have you both been together Carla?" Gwen asked the brunette.

"5 years next month. Married for 7 months" the brunette smiled as she turned her phone around showing them a picture of the four of them with the pets that Michelle had taken for them.

"She's looks just like you Lisa" Gwen smiled.

"She may look like me but she has Carla's attitude" Lisa smirked. Causing Carla to frown. "Betsy looks up to you Carla?" Jeff questions.

"Yeah the moment we met we both clicked. Asked me to adopt her early on. She's now in charge at the factory I own. Started as a little bit of work experience." Carla smiled thinking back to when she first met the girl she now calls her daughter.

"She was giving us some real looks that night at the restaurant" Gwen smiled sadly

"your Lucky my wife hear bribed her with her favourite cocktail and you didn't get a earful as well" Lisa laughed nudging carla.

"She has every right to be angry with us. Is that why she isn't here tonight?" Gwen questioned.

"That and she had to stay home with Arch" Lisa smiled.

The four of them continued their conversation for a while ordering more drinks as the night went on. They spoke about Lisa being in the police force, their extended family. And the hopes for the future.

In the end they agreed to take things slow and Lisa would have to take to Josh tomorrow about their situation. As well as their daughter.

The women decided to go out for food after receiving a message from Betsy she was cuddled up on the sofa with Archie lay on her chest saying Archie was enjoying Gilmore girls and they where completely fine.

They went to the favourite place in town and had a few cocktails. Enjoying being in each others company. They loved their kids more than life themselves. But it was nice just being the two of them. Remember why they fell in love those years back.

They were stood on the tram home both squished together whilst stood by the door. Lisa holing on to the pole and Carla stood facing her wife hands on Lisa's hips.

"Thank you for tonight darling" Lisa smiled placing a few pecks to Carla's lips. "You never have to thank me baby. I'm by your side until the end whether you want me there or not" Carla replied kissing her lips on last time.

"I always what you by my side. Your the best with, best friend and best guardian angel a girl could ever wish for" Lisa smiled looking lovingly into Carla's eyes.
