Lisa was pacing the house. They where both relived when they found d Betsy and Mason wasn't home. "Lise. Sit down please your making me anxious" the older woman reached a hand out for her wife to sit with her and the baby she was holding.
"I'm sorry. It's just. What the Hell is happening. Is this a dream. Am I going to wake up in a moment? Please tell me it's not. He's so perfect" Lisa started to rant. It slowly tethered off into a whisper.
"He is isn't he." Carla smiled.
Soon after her phone started to ring. She quickly passed the baby to Lisa and answered. Putting it on speaker phone.
"Simon!" She said down the phone.
"Carla hi. How are you?" The boy smiled won the phone.
"Don't how are you me Simon! Why have you left a baby at my old flat!" Carla demanded.
"I. I didn't know what else to do. We lost his mum 2 weeks ago to a gang stabbing and well. I'm on the run from the police. I well I got caught up with.." he stammered.
"Simon please stop talking. I think you're going to make my wife's head. Who is a copper fyi's head explode" she said. Putting a hand on Lisa's shoulder.
"You've got a wife!" He said down the phone.
"Not the point. But anyway" she told him. "Why leave the baby with me?" She questioned. "Why not your dad or. His siblings or your grandad. Why not Leanne Battersby forgot sake. Why me?"
"Because you're the only person in my life that has loved me unconditionally." He told her. "Because I knew you would give my baby the best upbringing possible" he told her matter of factly.
"Does any of your family know about this baby Si" she asked him after a moment to process what he had said. It was now Lisa squeezing her hand and pulling her to sit on the couch.
"No! And they aren't to know about him. They could put him in danger. They won't look after him like you will." He told her.
"In the letter I wrote that it's my wish for you to adopt him Carla. When I get caught by the police I will make sure of it. I'm guessing your wife is a good woman if she's married to you. Does she had children?" He asked.
"Yes. Our daughter Betsy" Carla smiled down the phone. Looking at the photo of the three of them.
"He will have a big sister?" Simon asked.
"She will be the best" Carla smiled.
"Si. If we do this. You can't decide you want him back after you get out of prison" Carla told him. "You can't let me get attached then take him away" Carla told her step son honestly.
"I won't do that Carla. If you do this for me. That little boy is yours. And your wife's" Simon said simply. "If I ever visit. I will be his oddly step big brother. You have my word Carla and errm..."
"My name is Lisa" the ds informed him.
"Lisa." Simon smiled. "It's good to meet you Lisa. Sorry it's not in better circumstances" Simon said down the phone. Lisa smiled.
"You too Simon" she smiled down the phone. Her finger was curebelt being held onto by the baby in her arms.
"What's his name si?" Carla had a tear in her eye looking at her wife. And the baby.
"We wanted to call him Jacob. But please use it as a middle name for him. It's only right you get to call your baby. We never got chance to register him. His birthday is March 5th. Born at 2:46pm" Simon said.
Carla could tell he meant every word he was saying.
"Are you sure Si?" Carla asked again.
"I'm sure. Please don't call the police until tomorrow. Let me try and get away." He begged.
Carla looked over to Lisa. Who nodded. "Ok" Carla told him. "Thanks Lisa" he said.
"We will look after him for you" she told him.
"I best be off" the boy said. "Please don't contact me. Giving up the little man is the hardest thing I've ever done. But it's to protect him."
"I love you Simon Barlow." Carla said down the phone.
"Love you too Carla. Thank you"
The phone line went dead.
"What do you say lise? Are we going to bring this baby up?" Carla questioned her.
Lisa looked at her then the baby. She gave her life a little nod. "We have to speak to Betsy about this. But I really can't see why not baby" Lisa smiled. Carla wrapped her arms around her wife. Both looking down at the baby.
