"We don't know where Dragomir lives," says Connor while holding onto his mate's hand. Catrina's sitting on the couch while Connor is pacing in his living room. Only when Catrina holds onto his hand, does he stop.
It's annoying, the pacing thing.
Shrugging at Connor's statement, I look at Nikita who's sitting beside me in front of Catrina in Connor's home.
Just a few minutes ago we landed in Connor's home, after instructing Cayden to takeover in Fenris's stead. Cayden and the elders are there to protect Crimson Shadow while we all bring back the Wolf Queen.
But... I still don't understand what I am doing in the middle of this.
The answer is obvious. Nikita! She's hurting because of this rift between Fenris and Sierra. Only when Sierra returns home, will Nikita feel better.
I have matters to deal with but having Dima with me helps. His support and Damon's support has helped me through this tough time. Damon is handling all the matters currently in the vampire world. The corrupt elders are all behind bars and Elder Courtney's my daily reporter. Though I sometimes feel that I am not being fair to her, after all she's an Elder.
Currently, the news of Dmitry being safe has appeased the crowd and strengthened their faith in me. All I have to do is maintain it. I cannot let any other power-hungry family ruin my legacy.
I just hope my coven accepts Nikita as their Queen not that it would affect me, but the acceptance from my people will help Nikita to feel better. She has spent almost her entire life in captivity. Nothing can help her heal more than a family. And I hope to be that for her.
Sometimes I feel that I am more of her anchor than the opposite. She's truly a Witch and soon it would be time for her to claim her rightful place as the Witch Queen.
Nikita is truly her mother's legacy. Where Queen Eva was the Queen to both Wolves and Witches, Nikita will one day be the Queen to both Vampires and Witches.
"What do you think, Nikita?" asks Catrina, while sparing me a glance. She's asking Nikita about being able to track Fenris. Well, ideally, she should be able to track Fenris but I think, today, she is troubled with her own thoughts.
I know that there's something that she's hiding from me. Maybe she doesn't even know that she hasn't shared that information with me but I have detected that and I am patiently waiting for her to tell me.
"I am not sure, Catrina. Fenris is here, closer to this pack than to Crimson Shadow but it seems like he's running in circles." Nikita, raises her hands as if trying to show us Fenris's trail.
I look at Connor, not sure if the young Alpha is having similar thoughts to mine. Connor senses my gaze on him and then looks at me, raising a brow in question.
"I think, someone's either tricked him or maybe the Dragon's playing with Fenris," mutters Connor, while looking at Nikita. "Do you really think that we should follow him?"
"Yes, of course. What kind of a friend are you?" questions Nikita and its welcome change that I see in her. A few days ago, she might have feared to even have a conversation with any male around her but today she's sitting in another male's house and questioning his audacity.
She's come a long way!
I do not miss Catrina's gaze, while she rubs her bump slowly. It's like she's seeking reassurance that the pup's really there. He's merely sleeping but the expectant mother is overly-protective of her unborn child. Connor senses that perhaps because he just walks around the couch and settles beside his mate, settling her under his arm. There, now Catrina's not going to move, neither is she going to fret over her bump.
