Chapter 82: Who we want to be.
Aria Friend:
"Hey, I think she's waking up," Vanter's voice pricked my ears as I began to stir. Before my eyes could open a gentle hand pushed against my shoulder. "Aria. Hey, Aria."
"What?" I groaned and wiped my eyes, clearing away the blur. My head was hammering. It felt like I had just gone on a 28-hour bender. Memories flashed inside my mind as the dream that had been plaguing my sleep returned. I held my head. "Damn it."
"Drink this," Zen appeared and pushed a vial my way.
I took it greedily and drained the contents. It took a bit but the throbbing pain lessened and I felt energy return to my body, "What happened?"
"You turned the Wyvern King to dust," Vanter smirked. "That's what happened."
"Yeah... I kind of remember that," I blinked and looked across the fire where two strangers sat together. The Old Man I kind of new, but the orange haired girl with freckles... while I couldn't recognise her, she felt like a Witch. "Who are they?"
Zen introduced them, "The Old Mountain Man and the Saint of Skies."
"That's us," the girl smiled. "You can call me Poppy."
"And just call me Old Man," the Old Man said simply.
"Right...," I winced again as the image of a perfectly smooth stone sphere broke into my head. "How long was I out for?"
Vanter answered, "It's been about twelve hours now."
"Shit," I tried to stand up but quickly keeled over.
Zen caught me, "Easy there."
"The others are probably worried. Did anyone contact them?"
"Nope," Vanter huffed. "No reception here and the fog wall is blocking us. We thought it better to wait for you to get up first. But take your time. The others aren't going to freak out. They trust us."
"Still," I paused and took a deep breath, settling my body again. "I don't want them to wait any longer. Let's get ready to leave."
"Are you sure you're okay?" Zen asked concerned.
"I'm fine," I replied. "I just have some things to think about."
It took a few more minutes to pack the camp but soon enough we had gathered and I prepared the teleportation array. Everyone bundled together.
"I'll take as back to Elastire," I said as I charged the magic. "Make sure you stay close while we pass through the Rift."
"Don't worry, this isn't our first jump," Poppy said cheerily. "I'm excited to see this Elastire though. I've heard really good things about it... at least before it was destroyed."
Vanter smiled, "The maids fixed it. Once we get there, soft beds and exceptional cuisine."
"Great because I'm starving," Poppy grinned. She was quite the cheery and excitable type.
"Here we go," I released the spell and the world warped around us. Like usual, as we passed through the Rift we were greeted with dazzling colours that flashed all around us. With it came the nausea, but for the most of us, we were used to it. As the seconds passed however, I felt my spell begin to unravel. Something was pulling us a different direction.
