Ardent Friend:
"Are you sure this is the place?" Agent Wester asked me.
"Positive," I replied as we looked towards the mansion from afar. I could feel traces of Aria's energy leading straight into the building. We crouched at the edge of a hill looking down at the large complex. The moon above was bright, reflecting enough light to make out shadows on the field between us and them. Zen laid low to my left and Vanter to my right. Ana crept beside Vanter and then in a group close by was Agent Davies team and Agent Wester.
"Shit," Agent Wester swore.
"What is it?" Vanter asked.
"This mansion belongs to one of the Directors of the Vargner group."
"The who?" Vanter looked at me.
I raised a brow, "I've heard of them before. They have something to do with stocks I think."
Agent Wester continued, "They do play the stock market, but they also have their hands in all sorts of businesses. Thing is, while we know they aren't the best people, it was only to a business point. They're low on our list for potential threats. Then again, with the amount of money they pull in, ten million is chump change. Security will be tight."
"That won't be a problem," I focused on the mansion. "Vanter what do you see?"
He paused, eye's glistening, "Eight armed guards patrolling the outside with another five I can sense inside looking out. There's about six non-combatants working the outside and a few more within."
"You got all that from here?" Agent Davies peered towards the mansion and frowned. "We have a stealth drone that can scan the area to double check."
"No need," I stood up. "We're going in."
"Whoa, hold it," Agent Wester gripped my wrist and pulled me down. "Let me call it in first. These lot are big players. We'll need back up."
I shook him off, "Agent Wester, I appreciate the help in getting us here but I'll be honest, my nerves are reaching their end point. Now that we're close. We're not going to stop."
His eyes met mine, and he sighed, "Go ahead. I'll handle the clean-up."
Agent Davies looked at us, "You can't be serious?"
"Thank you," I smiled sincerely as Zen, Vanter and Ana stood beside me. "Vanter head straight for the ones inside. Ana, sneak in and disrupt their systems. Zen, take out the guards on the perimeter. I'll handle the others." I breathed in and let the Aura from my soul swell inside my body. "Go."
We crossed the field in a matter of seconds and fell upon the guards far too quickly for them to react. I held the dwarven pistol ready and fired at the security cameras as they came into view. Vanter and Ana sped past me as Zen split to the side and far quicker than I could, knocked out the guards. With each step I sensed more of the compound, following the wires and feeling the people within. The main security room was within the mansion entrance, tucked into the side. I passed the information to Ana who barged through the door with Vanter. A maid went to scream in surprise but found she couldn't speak and like that our sudden assault ended in silence.
We reconvened in the entrance of the mansion.
"Done," Vanter dragged the bodies of the guards behind him and set them in a pile. "How are we feeling?"
