An explosion nearby shook Kallo's image on the commlink. Joseta flinched as she sat on the medical bed, watching her brother's blue figure.
"Sorry, you cut off," she said, meeting his eyes.
"I was just saying that Kenobi is definitely not in the mood for my humor," Kallo said, shrugging as he looked at his hands. "I don't know what's up with him."
"I heard he lost a lot of close friends recently," Joseta said, recalling what Rylann had told her before. "Sith lord."
"Ah, I see," Kallo muttered. "I will slack on the puns and such." He met her eyes. "How are your hands?"
"Alright," she said. She held up her hands. "My knees healed a lot faster than my hands. It's hard to rest something you use so much."
"I hear that Alann and Sella are staying with Mother in Coruscant," Kallo said.
Joseta perked up. "That means Sella is in labor."
A smile grew on his face. "I already filed for a leave so I am hoping I could go and be with her." He shrugged, ruffling his hair. "I don't know if that will happen, though."
"I'm sure Kenobi will allow it," Joseta said with a smile. "Besides, you're still special forces, so Rylann could bail you out, too."
"True," he said, pausing as he looked off camera. When he looked back at her, his face was contorted with worry. "They've found a way to deliver weapons. There is a ship in space."
"But what does that mean for us?" Joseta asked, but before she could get a reply, the footage cut out. Were they being jammed? Did something happen to him? Fear coursed through her veins. She had to find out what was going on.
She jumped from her medical bed, testing her weight on her knees. Seemed good enough. Not to mention, she could now grab door knobs. The bacta spray seemed to finally be working.
She exited the med bay, peering down the hall in hopes of avoiding Kix or Rex who would no doubt shove her back into the medbay. She slunk down the hall and exited the building to reach the outside landing strip. She spotted Rex entering the barracks, letting out a sigh of relief. She escaped him at least. Kix must be in there, too.
Glad to be outside, she took a deep breath. She was glad to be outside again. Running her fingers over her new scars on her palms, she looked up in the sky, wondering where the supply ship was that was delivering weapons to the Umbarans in the Capital. They had to do something to help. Maybe she could sneak off and steal a starfighter. How hard could it be to fly?
"What are you doing out of your bed?" Rex asked.
She straightened, saluting him quickly. "What are you doing? You just left the barracks."
