After the competition days were over, Firey, Leafy, Pin, and Coiny all moved into a house together. Firey and Leafy were dating, and so were Pin and Coiny—but there was also the whole... thing between Leafy and Pin. They weren't exactly dating, but they kissed, went on little dates, and had an undeniable connection that sometimes left Firey and Coiny feeling a little jealous. Not that they'd ever admit it.

Most of the time, everything worked out just fine. But on days like today? It sucked.

The girls were heading out for the day, leaving Firey and Coiny to fend for themselves. Which meant absolute disaster was imminent.

"Nooo, but I don't wanna stay here with Coiny!" Firey whined dramatically as Leafy and Pin reached the door. He crossed his arms, shooting an irritated look at Coiny. Stupid Coiny...

"Don't be such a baby," Pin snapped.

"It'll only be a few hours, Firey! I'm sure you two will find something to do," Leafy added, ever the optimist. Her usual cheerful smile... it was sweet, eased Firey up a bit, still mad though.

Coiny laughed, shoving Firey aside. "Pssh, it's fine. Firey's just being a whiny baby as per usual."

"Behave yourselves," Pin warned, fixing both of them with a sharp glare. They knew exactly what she was talking about. The last time she and Leafy went out, Firey and Coiny had gotten into a wrestling match that resulted in two broken vases, a flipped couch, and somehow, a hole in the wall. This time, all glass objects had been put safely out of reach, and Pin had written up a strict set of rules for them to follow.

Now that the girls were gone, Coiny was holding the list, scanning it over with mild annoyance.

"'No slapping.' Oh, this feels targeted." He threw his hands up, looking genuinely offended.

"That's because it is," Firey said flatly. "Here, gimme that." He snatched the paper from Coiny's hands and started reading. "What?! 'Firey, do not touch my chocolate'—Pssh! I'll do what I want! She can't tell me what to do!"

Coiny yanked the list back. "Let's see... 'No trashing the house, clean up any mess you make...' Pfft, come on. Like we don't always do that." He snickered.

Firey rolled his eyes. "Who needs rules? We make our own rules."

And with that, he held the list over his blazing head.

"Hey!! Pin worked hard on that!" Coiny yelped, reaching for it. Then, before he could think, his instincts kicked in— slap!

Firey jerked back with a startled noise, losing his grip on the paper. It fluttered into the flames and instantly turned to ash.

They both froze.

"Uh..." Firey glanced at the pile of ashes on the floor. "Oops."

Coiny stared at him for a second—then, with no hesitation, he slapped Firey again.

Firey immediately slapped him back. And just like that, it was on.

For the next thirty seconds, the living room was filled with the sound of aggressive slapping as the two went back and forth, neither willing to back down. This was exactly why Pin had made that rule in the first place! and the day had just started.
