Coiny woke suddenly from his sleep, a low grumble in his stomach reminding him he'd skipped dinner. Usually, if he forgot to eat, Pin would make sure he did. But tonight was different—she'd been out late with her friends, returning home so exhausted that she'd fallen into bed and drifted off almost instantly, not even asking how his night had been. Without Pin around, Coiny rarely ate properly; cooking wasn't his strong suit, and, truthfully, he was a bit lazy.

Now, he was curled up beside his girlfriend, their legs tangled together, his arm draped over her warm, red frame, holding her close. She was snoring softly, her breathing calm and steady. Coiny shifted slightly, careful not to disturb her, and sat up. He glanced at Pin, ensuring she was still fast asleep. She always had something to say about his late-night snack habits, especially at times like 3AM... like now. She'd lecture him about how it could upset his stomach or make it harder to fall back asleep.

But Pin was always looking out for him, teaching him better habits and giving him advice that he trusted completely. Coiny adored her for it; he loved her with his whole heart. Still, hunger was hunger. How was he supposed to sleep on an empty stomach? He hadn't eaten since 10AM... that was practically a lifetime ago.

Once he was certain Pin wouldn't stir, Coiny slipped out of bed as quietly as possible and tiptoed to the kitchen. The cool glow of the fridge light spilled into the dark room as he opened the door. Crouching down, his eyes landed on the last slice of cake Pin had baked earlier that week. Just the sight of it made his mouth water.

Pin's baking was like art to him, each treat a masterpiece, and Coiny savoured every bite she made. He knew she'd notice the missing slice, but his hunger overpowered his guilt. That cake was calling to him, practically begging to be eaten. How could he resist? He couldn't. And with that, he reached for it.

Coiny grabbed the plate, the plastic wrap still snugly covering the last slice of cake, preserving its perfection. With one swift motion, he kicked the fridge door shut and made his way to the kitchen table. He placed the plate down, his eyes glued to the dessert like it was a treasure.

"Ohh," he muttered under his breath, barely containing his excitement. The cake looked magnificent. His mouth watered as he reached for it, licking his lips in anticipation. Finally, he was about to satisfy his gnawing hunger.

But just as his fingers brushed the plate, his excitement was abruptly cut short.

The kitchen light flicked on, flooding the room with brightness. Coiny froze, his heart skipping a beat.

There, standing in the doorway, was a very grumpy-looking Pin. Her arms were crossed over her chest, and her piercing glare was enough to make Coiny instantly regret every decision he'd made leading up to this moment.

He could technically shove the whole slice into his mouth and deal with the consequences later. The thought was tempting—very tempting. But as Pin's eyes narrowed, he quickly decided against it.

"COIN-Y! What, are you do-ing! It's like, 3AM!" Pin shouted at Coiny, frustrated that he was attempting to eat so early in the morning. "What, did I tell you, about eating this EARLY!" Pin walked over, snatching the plate with the cake from the table and pulling it away from Coiny. He immediately frowned and let out a soft, disappointed sigh.

"Aw, come on, Pin! I haven't eaten in hours! I'm starving! Please!" Coiny pleaded, his voice full of genuine hunger. He was practically begging now, just wanting that one slice of cake. It had been calling to him all night, and he couldn't help how much he wanted it.
