It's actually sweet

All the time you've spent on me

It's honestly wild

All the effort you've put in

It's actually romantic

I really got to hand it to you, ooh

No man has ever loved me like you do.

Balloon finally had a chance to prove to everyone, but especially to Nickel, that he'd changed since season 1. He wasn't the same person anymore. Not many knew this, but back then, Nickel and Balloon actually used to spend a lot of time together. The truth, though, was that Balloon had manipulated Nickel, taking advantage of the fact that Nickel had a crush on him. Since then, all through season 2, Balloon had been trying to earn back Nickel's trust. He just wanted Nickel to see that he was genuinely sorry, that he was different now, better, or at least trying to be. But no matter what he did, Nickel seemed determined to make his life miserable. It wasn't fair. Balloon just wanted to prove he was more than who he used to be.

Leading the team through the maze, Balloon thought he was doing well, until he accidentally guided them down a path that triggered ice and fire lasers, knocking everyone over. Panic filled him instantly. He'd really tried this time, but once again, he'd messed up.

"Sorry guys! I had no idea that path would be so dangerous!" he blurted out, genuinely remorseful. He would never intentionally sabotage the team. He just wanted to do better.

Nickel's voice came quickly, sharp and almost too cheerful. "Oh, no, no no! It's fine, it's all fine! Hah..."

Did he mean that? Was Nickel actually starting to see that Balloon was trying to change?

"Why don't you go ahead and check the next path to make sure it's safe?" Nickel said with a smile.

Was he being sincere? Was that an actual sign of trust?

"Um... alright!" Balloon said, smiling faintly. Maybe Nickel really was softening toward him. Maybe all it would take was a little more time.

As he walked ahead, humming quietly to himself, he felt a flicker of hope. But then he heard shouting behind him—Nickel's voice, loud and angry. Balloon froze, peering through a break in the hedge.

"He's just gonna bulldoze us all over until we're all gone! Everything that just happened back there was because of him! It wasn't an accident!!" Nickel yelled at Suitcase, furious.

"You don't have any proof of that!" Suitcase shot back, defending Balloon.

"Guys, come on! Just keep it together!" Baseball tried to calm them down.

"No proof?! Did you just see what he did? Everyone would be better off if he kept to himself!!" Nickel shouted again, his words cutting deep.

Balloon felt his heart sink. Did Nickel really believe that? He had changed, he wasn't that same manipulative person anymore. He'd been trying so hard to show it.
