It had been a few days since Firey and Leafy finally reconciled after years of being apart. It felt like a fresh start—no longer haunted by their past, just focusing on the present. Firey had almost forgotten how much he truly adored Leafy... how much he had missed being with her. It was natural to miss a bond that once meant so much, but this feeling was stronger than just nostalgia. Being around her again made his heart race in the best way. She was funny, smart, beautiful—amazing in every way.
Looking back, Firey realized he had been falling for her even before their fallout. Maybe that's why he pushed her away—afraid of what might happen if he let her into Dream Island, scared he wouldn't be good enough for her, or that he'd somehow mess it all up. It was easier to shut her out than risk hurting her... or himself. But in the end, he had done exactly that. He had hurt her more than he ever imagined. And he regretted it every single day.
But Leafy had broken his trust too. The girl he had once felt safest with—the one he had loved—had betrayed him. It had shattered him. He had held onto that anger for so long, let it consume him. But even through the bitterness, he had still missed her, longed for her. If he didn't still care, why else would he have saved her all those years ago? He had never truly stopped loving her. He had just been too hurt to admit it. And in letting that pain control him, he had ended up hurting her in return.
But this time, things would be different. He couldn't let fear hold him back again. He refused to pretend his feelings weren't real—Leafy deserved to know the truth. He had to tell her how much she meant to him before it was too late.
"And that's why I need your help, Gelatin. I have to tell her," Firey said, turning to his best friend with urgency. "She deserves to know how I really feel. I can't mess this up again. I just... can't."
Gelatin listened patiently before flashing a supportive grin. "Then take her out on a date! We don't have any challenges today—just ask her to go for a walk. It's beautiful out. Talk to her, maybe even hold her hand! You've got this, dude, I know you do."
"But what if I mess up? What if she never wants to talk to me again?" Firey's voice wavered as he glanced toward Leafy, who was chatting happily with Flower and Lollipop. She looked so cheerful, the sunlight casting a warm glow on her green skin. She was always so bright, so full of kindness... how had he ever hurt someone like her? The thought made his chest ache.
"Hey." Gelatin placed a reassuring hand on Firey's arm, offering a steady smile. "Go talk to her. Ask her out. You won't lose her. I promise—you've got this."
Firey took a deep breath, trying to steady himself as he anxiously made his way toward Leafy. His fingers fidgeted, scratching at his hand—a nervous habit he couldn't shake. His heart pounded. He was scared. As he stepped closer, Leafy noticed him and turned with a bright, cheerful smile. She looked so happy to see him.
"Hiya, Firey!" she greeted, her eyes sparkling with warmth.
She was so precious... The way her gaze lit up sent his heart into overdrive.
"H-Hey, Leafy," Firey stammered, forcing out a shaky laugh. "Lovely, uh... weather we're having, heheheh..." Oh, great. That was stupid.
"Yeah, it is! So, what's up?" Leafy asked eagerly, her eyes bright with excitement. She hoped Firey wanted to hang out—she had really missed spending time with him.
