Chapter Sixty: Tanjiro joins the Hashira Training

As trainees traversed a long mountainous trail, Tengen demanded they hasten and push themselves. As the sun sat, the Sound Hashira confronted a trainee by pinning him with his Shinai, demanding that he move his arms and legs more before letting him go. The next day, watching as they preformed sit-ups, Tengen reminded them that they can not proceed to the next stage of Hashira Training without improving their fitness and stamina. Tengen made an example out of a trainee by jabbing him as he lied in exhaustion, claiming they will not survive Sanemi's and Mitsuri's training stages in their current state. Throughout the entirety of the exercises, the trainees all remark that despite the great difficulty they were enduring, but they will encounter more hellish training next.

The trainees ears fulled with screams as they reached the Flame Hashira's stage.

"Ahhhhh please help me, please I begg of you, the Flame Hashira, he is absolutely brutal!!!!." screamed a trainee.

"Get back here!" yelled Kyojuro.

"Nooooo" screamed the trainee as he was being dragged back by Kyojuro, the trainees were horrified by the scene and it made them realize something, if this was the Flame Hashira's training.......then what horrors were awaiting for them at the Eclipse Hashira's stage!!!!.

Suma, Hinatsuru and Makio were serving food for the trainees. The three women heard Tengen demand that the trainees eat more, threatening to make the next exercise harder should they leave food. Later as the three told the trainees to finish their food, repeating Tengen's threat of more training, one trainee asked another if he was on patrol for the night, asking to switch with him, but his idea got shot down by the other trainee, since night patrols allowed him to skip morning training. Able to hear them, Tengen mutters in his disappointment at their attitude towards training. That night, the Demon Slayer and his partner notice the lessened demon activity, though the latter noted that the nights remain uneasy. The first believed that the demons were hunting for Tanjiro and Nezuko.

"Wh...what if Uppermoon One himself is lurking here!, oh i wish that all the demons would just disappear!" said the Demon Slayer, but his friend said that the idea was ridiculous, the Uppermons rarely appeared and unless you were Tanjiro, it was impossible to encounter an Uppermoon, and that demons have been alive for a thousand years.

Then suddenly as the Demon Slayer had his back turned, the other Slayer had vanished!, leaving his friend alone in the dark. He began to panic and frantically look for his friend, growing more nervous with each passing second. His friend suddenly jumped out from behind a corner, causing the Demon Slayer to fall over as his friend demonstrated that demons may attack unexpectedly. Angered and scared, the Demon Slayer demanded that he never do that again!. The friend apologized and extended a hand and lifted him up, then they heard a rustling sound behind them that appeared to be coming from a dark alley. The first Demon Slayer warned him not to repeat his prank and continue with the patrol, which he agreed to, but unbeknownst to them, an eyeball marked "Four" began to fallow them from behind, crawling on its tendrils.

Sitting alone, Sanemi waits until the arrival of Obanai, the Serpent Hashira apologized for his lateness, but Sanemi wasn't mad, the Wind Hashira had just arrived himself. The two Hashira began discussing the state of their training. Obanai was pleased with the trainees, the previous Hashira training and the current one had helped them grow a lot but Obanai still wasn't sure if they will be useful in a battle against an Uppermoon, and Sanemi agreed, though despite their woes, they knew it was Kagaya's will. Obanai then asked why he had called him at this time, the Wind Hashira had been thinking of something, which the Serpent Hashira surmised was about the castle.......they had those bastard demons cornered then they suddenly vanished!.

Obanai had also been wondering what lies beyond what they saw,if it was an unknown demon hideout, but Sanemi had investigated the castle several times to no avail. Obanai added that at the same time demonic activity in the surrounding city had diminished, which Sanemi reasons as proof that they are targeting Tanjiro and Nezuko. Obanai believed that something big was upon them, and that the lessened activity is an omen of misfortune for the Corps.

"And i will be the one who will end it all!" said Sanemi disregarding Obanai's unease, Obanai remarked that training the Corps members has distracted his mind, yet when he delves into their situation, he couldn't help but think that the calm they face now will only be followed by a major storm. Sanemi dismissed his premonition, believing it was futile to be certain of the future. When Obanai claimed he had a suggestion for him, Sanemi interjected, the Wind Hashira wanted to say his own suggestion first, Sanemi challenged Obanai to a fight, Obanai accepted, because he was about to suggest the same thing.

In the darkness of night, a small group of Demon Slayers armed with bokutōs were walking in the forest. The forest was dark and eerie which made the Demon Slayers frightened and on high alert.

"Wh....what was that!." screamed a Demon Slayers as he heard a rustling coming from a bush.

"Oh it's just a dear,don't you ever scream like that again we thought it was a demon you gave us a heart attack!." wisperd the leader of the group, the slayer quickly apologized, the Demon Slayers wanted nothing more than to be out of this creepy place. The group continued exploring the forest when one of them saw a pair of glowing red eyes!, he let out a terrified scream and his friends told him to shut up saying that his noise could attract a demon, the Demon Slayers continued walking and then were ambushed and attacked by a demonic Tanjiro!. Tanjiro jumped out from the dark forest and let out a terrifying demonic sound as he attacked the slayers!. The Demon Slayers panicked and tried to flee but Tanjiro picked them off one by one, Tanjiro then pointed his wooden bamboo sword at them and said.

"I'm very disappointed in you, if i was a full demon you would have all been devoured!." It was clear that this group needed more work and training, then Tengen's wives came telling everyone that it was time for tea. As Tanjiro sat on a wooden log, enjoying the Gyokuro tea he was joined by Tengen and his three wives who thanked him for helping with the training exercise, Tengen wanted to prepare the trainees for the field and who better to play the role of a demon then Tanjiro!.

"Thank you, i'm glad that i could help." said Tanjiro sipping his tea.
