Chapter Fifty Eight: To Defeat Muzan Kibutsuji

In a remote forest accompanied by two Demon Slayers,Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa and Serpent Hashira Iguro Obanai were stalking an abandoned castle, which Obanai surmised had been forgotten since the Meiji Restoration. A Demon Slayer confirmed a woman from a nearby village had been abducted, but found when they investigated the castle, and despite the Demon Slayer Corps being on high alert, this was the second disappearance. Sanemi rebuked them for their lesser skill, allowing the kidnapping to occur, when Obanai spotted a demon below them. They saw a demon carrying the missing woman and gave chace. As they made their way to the castle, the demon realized he was being chased, the demon berated himself for not previously killing the Demon Slayers.

The Demon Slayers entered the castle, but unbeknownst to them, the castle was crawling with demons.........it was infested with them!. A demon pounced on a Demon Slayer, but was quickly killed by Obanai, while another was beheaded by Sanemi. The demons attacked, Sanemi and Obanai were killing them easily but the weaker Demon Slayers were struggling to fight, Obanai ordered them to retreat as he continued the mission with Sanemi. One of the weaker Slayers insisted on staying but Sanemi dismissed him as a hindrance and repeated the order, causing him to retreat. Obanai and Sanemi had realized that something was amiss, they've never seen demons collect in a swarm before?!. Sanemi heard the woman cry for help.

"Wind Breathing Second Form: Claws Purifying Wind!" yelled Sanemi as he leaped into the air, eviscerating the horad in one ripping attack, but more demons converged, when Obanai appeared.

"Serpent Breathing Fifth Form: Slithering Serpent" shouted Iguro as he beheaded the demons in a single fluid slash.

Sanemi expressed his annoyance at Obanai's assistance and then the two Hashira saw the kidnapper holding the woman. The Oni fleed upon realizing that he was being pursued by the Hashira, Sanemi demanded that the demon surrender, killing the demons in his path. Sanemi and Obanai followed the kidnapper outside the castle and were surrounded by more demons. Wondering where the demons were coming from, Sanemi allowed Obanai to take over as he went for the woman, leaping onto the rooftops, Obanai used Serpent Breathing,Third Form: Coil Choke, leaping off the edge to kill the demons in a rapid winding attack. Sanemi had the kidnapper cornered and noticed the lesser demons surrounding him, they all attacked but Sanemi killed them with Wind Breathin Fourth Form: Rising Dust Storm, showering himself in red blood, the kidnapper then surrounded the woman by throwing her off the roof, but she was caught by Obanai.

The Hashira chased the demon as he fell back into the castle, but when Sanemi and Obanai leaped inside, they instead saw a vast, endless space of wooden halls and lamp-lit rooms, crawling with even more demons!. The Infinite Castel then collapsed in on its self as they fall inside, Sanemi attempted to kill the kidnapper but only managed to stab the ground as the alternate dimension completely vanished. Obanai questioned whare the demons are now, but Sanemi crudely responded that he was as unsure as he was.

Kanao Tsuyuri was riding a cart through the countryside, the puller asked Kanao if he should leave her on the crossroads, the girl thanked him and made her way to the Butterfly Mansion. Kiyo Terauchi, Naho Takada, and Sumi Nakahara had all rushed to greet her and welcome her back home. Kanao saw her adoptive sister the Insect Hashira Shinobu Kocho and announced her return. Shinobu noted that the attack on the Swordsmith village was just as she described, but thanks to the amazing efforts of Tanjiro Tsugikuni, Nezuko Tsugikuni, Muichiro Tokito, Mitsuri Kanroji and Genya Shinazugawa, Uppermoons Four and Five have been killed and defeated while Uppermoon Three Akaza was defeated and sent retreating.

"Kanao, Tanjiro has called an emergency meeting, so you watch over the patients while i'm gone" said Shinobu as she made her way to the Ubuyashiki's mansion, Kanao was surprised but Shinobu had faith in her.

Tanjiro and Nezuko were at the Butterfly Mansion visiting the injured Slayers, speaking with Goto, Tanjiro learned that the Swordsmith village was being moved, Goto noted that the swordsmiths were working hard on moving and restoring the village.

"Thanks to you and the others the damage wasn't severe" said Goto, Tanjiro remembered his battle with Hantengu, despite the incredible power of his emotional manifestations, Hantengu himself was a pathetic coward and a hypocrite, he was one of the few demons that Tanjiro truly hated and will never forgive. Goto added that the Corps has previously made hidden vaillages to protect the swordsmiths from an attack, Tanjiro was amazed by Kagaya Ubuyashiki's foresight. Goto asked if it was true that the Love and Mist Hashira were only asleep for two days before recovering on the third, which Tanjiro confirmed to be true, Mitsuri and Muichiro fortunately didn't suffer any permanent injuries after their clashes with Hantengu and Gyokko. Tamayo then came, she and Kanao were taking care of the patients in the Butterfly Mansion, she was very happy to see the Tsugikuni siblings again, Tamayo had became like a mother to the Tsugikuni siblings, and Tanjiro and Nezuko had became like Tamayo's children, Tanjiro and Nezuko wanted to stay longer but they had a very important meeting to attend.

At the meeting, Sanemi and Obanai joined their peers, the latter apologized for their lateness, but the Stone Hashira Gyomei Himejima, commended them for their mission.

"Hello my friends i'm glad that you could all attend, i have called this meeting to propose a second training session,the demons are receiving more of Muzan's blood and are becoming stronger and we have only trained to match the Uppermons previous level of strength" said Tanjiro. Muichiro and Mitsuri agreed, that made Sanemi and Obanai a little annoyed, they were disappointed that they didn't get to face an Uppermoon.

"We need to at least be strong enough to face my father if he goes all out." said Tanjiro saddened by the possibility that he might have to fight his father, Nezuko held her brother's hand and squeezed tight, everyone was terrified at that, the thought of having to fight an out of control and outraged Uppermoon One was terrifying!.

After the meeting Tanjiro and Nezuko went to visit Oyakata Kagaya Ubuyashiki. The man was in horrible shape, he was lying in bed and covered in bandages, Nezuko used her healing flames, she did this every time they went to visit Kagaya, it helped keep the curse at bay and stop it from killing him.The Tsugikuni siblings had become good friends with Kagaya, the three drank green tea and had a very deep and interesting conversation with eachother, Tanjiro and Nezuko talked about their father while Kagaya talked about the history of the Demon Slayer Corps, Kagaya had revealed that the Ubuyashiki family was cursed due sharing a blood relation with Muzan.

"And your father is unfortunately the reason why my family went into hiding and why we founded the Kakushi, three hundred years ago your father had killed an ancestor of my family and delivered his head to Muzan" said Ubuyashiki, Tanjiro and Nezuko shocked at this disturbing information.

"We are so sorry Oyakata Sama, i don't think that we will ever get over the fact that our father is Uppermoon One, how could my own father......someone that i love and adore so much be capable of such evil?!, we will never be able to see our father the same way again!." said Tanjiro, Kagaya told him to not apologize saying that it wasn't his fault and that it was ancient history.

"Father how could you?" thought Tanjiro to himself, Tanjiro and Nezuko will have to confront their father about his past.
