Chapter Sixty Six: Michikatsu's torment

Kokushibo was in great pain and suffering, Muzan had cast a spell on him forcing him to relieve the night that his children were slaughtered, for several days Kokushibo had been reliving all his worst pain and trauma. This all reminded him of when he was just a human child, being raised by that monster of a father.

"I never thought that you would betray me Kokushibo, my oldest and most loyal servant, and after a gave you immortality and the power to surpass your brother!." said Muzan fulled with venom. Michikatsu remembered the night that he met Muzan, he had encountered the demon king on a rooftop. He had got on one knee and accepted the offer, it wasn't that he was afraid of dying, he wasn't a coward, he didn't fear death or fear Yoriichi, but he did fear that his MoonBreathing would be lost due his death and he feard dying before surpassing his younger brother, so he accepted, he knew how evil and corrupt Kibutsuji was and knew what becoming an Oni entailed, after all Michikatsu was the honored Moon Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps. But his envy of his brother Yoriichi and his desire to preserve his techniques had blinded him and consumed his heart and mind, and he accepted, he sold his humanity to Muzan, had given up being a samurai and the Moon Hashira, betraying everyone and abandoning every thing that he once stood for, had turned himself into one of the monsters that he once hated and hunted down, and now he is finally paying the price.

Michikatsu was in his own personal hell being tormented by the faces and voices of his family and victims. Michikatsu will never forget the day that his clan died, that memory will haunt him for the rest of his life. His ex-wife Tsukihanah, was the daughter of his arch enemy, the Daimyo of an enemy caln named Toho, who was nicknamed The White Death, and Tsukihanah was known as The White Death's Daughter. Back in the Sengoku Era, noble men like Michikatsu did not get to choose their wife, they married whoever their family chose for them, that was how Michikatsu ended up marrying his enemy's daughter. When the news of Michikatsu becoming an Oni had reached Toho, he had decided to massacre clan Tsugikuni as revenge and punishment for Michikatsu's betrayal. When Michikatsu first heard the news, he was in denial, he thought that it was a lie.....had hoped that it wasn't true!!!. But when he returned to home he was horrified at what he saw, his home had been completely burned and destroyed and he saw the burned and torn remains of his family everywhere!. Michikatsu had spent that night burying the remains of his deceased clan.

"I was worng, you were the cursed child, you should have never been born, you should have died" said Senshi fulled with anger and disappointment.

"Father?!." said Michikatsu, he had lived for so long he had forgotten most of his family and friends faces, but it was obvious that the man in front of him was his father Senshi.

"My son, how could you?" said Akeno fulled with tears and anguish.

"Mother?!." murmured Michikatsu.

"Why did you leave us" asked a little boy, it was Masamune, as a child.

"You let your family fall apart" said a woman, it was Tsukihanah, she was standing next to Masamune and was holding a baby Ryūka in her arms.

"You were our Daimyo, why did you leave us" said a woman from the Tsugikuni clan.

"Traitor!" yelled a man.

"Disgrace!" shouted another man.

"Murderer!" shouted a spirit of an angry victim, devoured by Michikatsu.

"Bastard" yelled an other.

"Monster".

"Oni".

"Demon". The angry, restless spirits of the victims shouted.

"I'm disappointed in you son" said Tanjuro.

"Why did you let our children die?!." said Hinata crying.

"Why didn't you save us?." said Takeo.

"Why did you let us die?." said Hanako.

"Why dad..Why?." said Shigeru.

"Why did you let the bad man hurt us daddy?." asked Rokuta.

"I hate you, i will never forgive you for letting our family die!." yelled Nezuko.

"I have no father!" said Tanjiro, in a cold and disgusted tone.

"Failure" said Yoriichi accusing his brother, his face was fulled with anger and disappointment.

"You failed me, failed our family, failed the Demon Slayer Corps, you couldn't even be a brother yet alone be the stronger one, you failed you promised to always be there for me, you couldn't even keep that promise, i hate you!.". said Yoriichi, fulled with anger and disappointment, Michikatsu was hurt by his brother's harsh words, this was so out of character for Yoriichi.......it hurt him to see the look of hatred and disappointment in Yoriichi's eyes....
hs little brother had never looked at him like that!.

I let my other children die and abandoned being a samurai. You said that those who master their paths all reach the same place. But i never did. Was this how you felt when Uta and your child were killed?. Are we not so different after all?. Why could i not leave anything behind. Why could i not become someone known. Why in the world was i even born?. Tell me....Yoriichi." thought Michikatsu to himself, consumed by despair and sorrow.
