As the years had gone by, Will noticed a change in his and Nico's intimacy. Not a bad change by any means, but things had become different since they were young. He remembered how just a look, a glance, the slightest brush against the thigh, had gotten them going.
But now, married seventeen years, ages forty-two, with two kids; one eleven and one seven, things were different. They weren't as young as they used to be and there were more than a few strands of silver in Will's golden curls.
Now the looks they share are ones that reflect the pride they feel in their children, or their exhaustion, or their all encompassing love and devotion they have for the family they've created. It's no longer longing looks of lust, or hooded eyes, but it's no less full of love.
This morning, in particular, is special. Will had the day off, and since he did, he decided to do something special for his husband. So, when Nico's alarm went off at six in the morning to get the kids up for school and get breakfast made, Will silenced it, before pulling his husband back down into his arms, not letting him get up.
"Will," Nico groaned, groggy from sleep. "I gotta get breakfast going,"
Will simply hushed him and kissed his head. "I'll do it, you just go back to sleep my love,"
Nico smiled up at him, a sleepy, relieved grin. "You're the best husband in the world," Nico mumbled against Will's lips, placing a quick peck there.
Will grinned as well, then peeled away and got out of bed. Nico's eyes already slipped shut again, his face squished against the pillows, his hair wildly sticking up. Will quickly bent down and smoothed his hair, before placing a kiss to his temple, and getting ready for the day.
Once he was dressed, simple cargo shorts and a star wars graphic tee, he started on breakfast. Nico usually did eggs, fruit, and toast, but Will thought he would do something a little special. He rummaged through a cabinet and emerged with a half open box of pancake mix.
He got to work, mixing and pouring batter. He even found some chocolate chips and blueberries, which he added to the pancakes. A little while later, plates were stacked with fresh pancakes, a cutting board covered in an array of fruit, and a pan of scrambled eggs and sausage.
He wiped his hands on the kitchen towel before throwing it over his shoulder and heading up the stairs to wake up their kids.
He woke Bianca first, the door opening with a small creak. "Morning Bia," he whispered into the still dark room. The walls were covered in posters of rockets and planets, the stars over her bed still glowing a dull pale green. The light from the hallway shone a beam into the room, landing on her bed and swallowing up the darkness the further Will opened it.
Will stepped past the threshold of the door, his feet landing on the plush carpet that lined the room. Bianca's face peeked above the edge of the covers, her jet black hair messy around her head just like her Papa's. Will saw a slight scrunch of her nose as the light from the hallway fell on her face, making her lashes flutter. He sat down on the edge of her bed and ran a hand through her messy hair.
"Time to wake up, Bia," he said, gently caressing her face.
Bianca let out a little whine and furrowed her brows. "Don't wanna," she said, then flopped on her side, away from Will and shielding herself from the light.
"Not an option, kiddo," Will said, a smile in his voice. He stood up and opened her curtains,—they were covered in constellations— letting the sun shine through.
Bianca let out a groan and threw her arm dramatically over her eyes. "What the heck!" she exclaimed.
Will chuckled. "Come on, Bia, get dressed. I made a special breakfast,"
