S3C Chapter 65: The Crashing Tides

Here we are again. Another anniversary of this book come to pass. Has it been that long already? It feels like the last one just happened, and yet it's already returned. Either way, here's to a happy 7th anniversary of this story. Seven long years in which I hope I've given something enjoyable back to you all with this story.

Marie POV

Marie was cleaning up her apartment while talking over the phone with Pearl, who was telling Marie about the place she was going to.

Marie: Sounds cool. I'll have to check it out later.

Pearl: You can come hit it up with me today if you want.

Marie: Sorry, I can't today. I'm busy today.

Pearl: Oh yeah, you got your podcast or whatever, huh?

Marie: Sure do, but let me know how it goes so I know whether to avoid it or not.

Pearl: Gotcha. I'll make sure not to wreck the place too badly then so you can make it if it's good.

Marie just shook her head with a smile before hearing a knock on the door behind her.

Marie: All right, I've gotta go now, Pearl. I'll talk to you later.

Pearl: Aight, see ya on the flip side.

Pearl said before the two hung up and Marie went over to get the door.

Upon opening it, she was greeted with the smile of the person she invited over.

(Y/N): 'Sup.

Marie: Glad you could make it. Now get inside, you're letting the cool air out.

She said, moving out of the doorway, letting him inside to close the door behind himself.

(Y/N): So, are you starting soon or am I early?

Marie: I made sure we'd have time to just hang out before it, but I was glad to see you agreed to come on the podcast again.

(Y/N): You know me, I don't mind the pressure.

Marie: Yeah, like water on a duck's back.

(Y/N): Better be careful saying that around Pearl. I think she's still got a thing with ducks.

Marie: Hopefully not. Pearl was just telling me about a petting zoo she was heading to, and I'm not sure if they'll have ducks or not.

(Y/N): Let's just hope she doesn't get too worked up and unleash a special then.

He said with a chuckle that had a hint of genuine worry.

(Y/N): So, what do you want to do until it's time for your podcast?

Marie: How about just talking a bit about what's been going on?

(Y/N): Wouldn't it be better to save that kind of stuff for the podcast?

Marie: I'll save the best for that, but I have topics or questions prepared in case I need something to talk about.

(Y/N): What kind of questions?

Marie: Sometimes people ask me questions online, and I pick which ones I like the best to bring up.

(Y/N): I bet plenty are happy just to hear you read off their names.

Marie: Of course, who wouldn't be happy to hear it in my melodic voice~?

She said with a tone to make herself sound better.
