S3C Chapter 80: Music To My Ears

Veronica POV

Veronica was working, making sure the weapons were fully operational and in peak condition, and while doing so, she was humming a tune to herself that was stuck in her head.

She even found herself zoning out with her eyes shut as she spun around, letting the beat move her, before being caught doing so, and she giggled with a blush as she went back to work, making sure not to cause any trouble.

However, as the workday went on, she found herself still unable to stop thinking of the tunes stuck in her head.

As she rode the train, she made sure to respectfully stay quiet, to not bother any of the others on the train, but she still found herself leaning back and forth while looking out the train window and playing the tune in her head.

This continued even when she had returned to her own home, while she ate dinner, washed her dishes, and showered, all the way until now, where she was sitting in her room, sketching in her notebook as the night came and she eventually went to sleep with a smile on her face, still hearing the song play in her heart as she drifted off to sleep.

Veronica noticed the shuttle bus was arriving at the front door of Pearl's now, so she turned off Marie's podcast and put her phone in her pocket as she got off and went to the front door, going inside.

Veronica: Hello~! Pearl? Marina?

She asked aloud, hoping to find the two here with her sudden visit, but she received no reply.

Veronica: Hmm.

She wondered which room Pearl would be found in, hoping to make it a quick search rather than one of the long searches of checking Pearl's entire home.

Veronica knew it was best to just start checking one by one so as not to miss her by chance.

And so, she checked each one of the rooms that made up Pearl's large mansion, many of which are rooms Veronica was unsure if Pearl had ever been inside of.

Luckily, before she had reached even the halfway point of checking every room, she started hearing some muffled noises coming from somewhere else in the place. Veronica was listening closely to find where the noise was coming from, with it getting louder as she got closer. Eventually, she found the door where the noise was emanating from. Now knowing what room it was, she congratulated herself for being good at hot-or-cold, then opened the door.

When the door opened, Veronica was instantly pressured by the loud noise that was kept quieter by the soundproof room she had just opened, unnoticed by the musical duo in the room making all the noise

Pearl and Marina were in the room in Pearl's home where the two could practice their music, gifting Veronica her own private Off the Hook performance.

The two ended the song they were doing as the two unwinded from it before the two were both surprised by the clapping from Veronica.

Marina: O-Oh! How long have you been here?

Pearl: You like the show, yo?

Veronica nodded.

Veronica: I was not expecting to find you two in the middle of practice.

Pearl: Marina's been obsessed with this new band's music, so she's been super inspired recently.
