Hello, everyone. It's been about two years and a month since I've returned to this book. And since then, I've kept at this book on a consistent pace, and I've enjoyed doing it. However, recently, I feel I've been getting a bit burnt out. Not in the sense that I'm not enjoying writing, the steady pace I've found myself doing has helped me not get sick of it. What I mean by burnt out is that I'm simply running a bit low on ideas now as I run out of Splatoon content to look to as the game is in a drought right now.
With that said, I wanted to run the idea by all of you who are still here and enjoying the story on me potentially going on hiatus with this story for a little while until we've got more to work with (such as Splatoon Raiders release).
I'm not saying this is the last chapter for a while, I've got a little bit left to do first, but otherwise, I'll end up making lazier chapters I feel, which I don't want. I'm not sure if I would take a break writing for a while or if I would write other stories in the meantime which I've been tempted to do for a while now. Either way, I wanted to run this by you all first, as it's thanks to all you who vote on this story, comment on it with your best wishes, or even just enjoy reading the story that encourages me to write this story in the first place, and this isn't something I'd want to just suddenly drop on you all without prior warning.
I appreciate all of your support, and here's to the first chapter of 2026 as a new year begins.
Marie POV
Marie turned off her phone screen and put it away in her pocket. She put her shoes on, not bothering to untie them, just slipping them on. She checked over herself making sure she wasn't forgetting anything before calling out to Callie.
Marie: Callie! I'm leaving, you want to lock the door for me?
Callie happily walked out to meet her.
Callie: Where are you off to?
Marie figured she knew what would happen when she answered this question.
Marie: I'm heading to (Y/N)'s place.
Callie: Ooh! Give me a sec, I'm coming too!
Marie sighed, seeing this coming.
Marie: Yes, fine.
Marie said as she kicked her shoes off and sat on the couch.
Callie: What are you doing?
Marie: Might as well get comfortable while I wait for you to get ready.
Callie: I won't be that long, Marie.
Marie: Should I start a timer?
Marie asked, taking out her phone.
Callie: Go for it!
Callie happily agreed as she quickly ran off once Marie started the timer.
Marie let the phone sit out on the couch, timer still going, next to her while she watched the television, waiting for whenever Callie would finish getting ready.
Marie: Cal-lie! Can you hurry it up?
Callie: I'm almost finished~!
Marie groaned as she leaned back into the couch and kept watching television.
Eventually, Callie came running back out to the living room.
Callie: Time!
She looked like she realized something as she grabbed her hat and adjusted a bit to the side.
