S3C Chapter 68: Working It Out

Marina POV

Marina and (Y/N) were walking beside each other down the sidewalk.

(Y/N): So, how exactly does this work?

Marina: What's not to get? I see it online all the time.

(Y/N): Maybe I'm just ignorant, but how exactly do you have a date at a gym?

Marina: You know, you just do a little workout and socialize while doing it. Plus, we just take a photo or two as well to post online.

(Y/N): You've been looking up what other celebrities do, haven't you?

Marina: Well, yeah, but that's how it'll look legitimate. Plus, who doesn't like Musselforge Fitness?

(Y/N) looked like he was thinking about it, but he had already accepted it when Marina first proposed the idea in the first place.

(Y/N): Yeah, I guess I do like the place. It's a nice workout and plenty of fun to be had. Like a grown-up playground.

Marina giggled.

Marina: Yeah, it can be especially fun to watch people try and climb the rock climbing walls. Though it can also be rude, especially when watching Jellyfish try with their short legs, or Judd with his big, fluffy belly. It's nice to see people trying to better themselves regardless.

Marina said happily, with (Y/N) giving a nod.

(Y/N): You've gotta respect the attempt.

He said as the two of them walked through the entrance, and they both saw Pearl there, stretching.

Marina: Speaking of which.

Marina said under her breath, which Pearl then noticed the two others who had just arrived.

Pearl: Yo, what brings you two here?

Marina: I thought we had mentioned we'd be going on a pretend date here today. Why are you here?

Pearl: Oh, y'know.

She said while doing more stretches.

Pearl: Just here getting yoked. And you know, this place is only like an hour from my place, so I thought, "Why not?"

Marina: Don't you have a gym in your house? Pearl, I thought you were fine with us fake-dating.

Pearl: What? That ain't the issue.

Marina: Then what is the issue?

Pearl looked down, slightly disappointed in herself as if she was being uncool.

Pearl: I've just been bored recently... I mean, you've been busy doing your interviews and stuff for that movie, and when you aren't doing that, you two have been busy going on fake dates for appearances. Plus, Eight's been busy with work lately, so she hasn't been around.

Marina: Aww, Pearl. Why didn't you tell me you've been so lonely lately?

Pearl: Huh? I ain't been lonely. Like I said, I've been so booooored. I'd be fine being alone, but I just don't got anything to do recently.

Marina: I thought you told me you had a huge backlog of games you've been wanting to play through.

Pearl: Oh, Marina, you don't play your backlog, you just let it grow bigger.
