S3C Chapter 79: Fourteen

Marina POV

Marina walked up to the front door of Acht's home, giving it a knock to no response before Marina rolled her eyes with a smile, assuming Acht was asleep at this time of day.

She reached into her bag and pulled out Acht's spare key and let herself in, wiping off her shoes.

Marina: Hello~? Acht, were you doing another all-nighter, ruining your sleep schedule?

She asked out loud, but not loud enough to disturb her if she was sleeping.

However, Marina found that Acht wasn't on the couch nor was she in her own bed, confusing Marina as to where her friend was.

Marina looked a bit disappointed that Marina's surprise ended up being a bust.

She pulled out her phone as she was going to ask Acht where she was, but before she needed to, she heard someone at the front door. Upon the door opening, in walked not only Acht but (Y/N), catching Marina off guard.

Marina: Whoa, what's up here?

Acht was equally confused at Marina being here.

Acht: I feel I should be the one asking that. What're you doing here on your own? I thought you had some work to do today.

Marina: I did, and I finished early, so I was going to surprise but you weren't home.

Marina explained the situation to Acht.

Marina: But what are you two doing together? I can't say I would've expected to see you two together.

Acht shrugged.

(Y/N): I asked for her help the other day, and we've kinda just been hanging out since then.

Acht: Yeah, we just got back from a club. There was a lot of nice music playing there. We even ran into Paul there.

(Y/N): Yeah, it was pretty cool. I love SashiMori's music. I think he and I got along well.

He said with a smile.

Acht: Yeah, maybe. He at least enjoyed getting to talk about all the music.

Marina: Wow, well, uh, I'm glad to see you're really getting out there, Acht.

Marina said with a smile.

Marina: So, do you have any other plans now?

Acht: We actually came back here 'cause I was feeling a little inspired by all the music and music talk.

Marina: Perfect, I don't mind joining in on a jam session.

Acht: Sure. Can you set up the mixer for me then?

Marina: No problem!

Marina replied cheerfully.

Marina's brows were furrowed as she watched Acht and (Y/N) together.

Marina couldn't get over her own shock of how Acht went from being so embarrassed around (Y/N) from their first meeting to how now the two were conversing so openly and casually while working on the music together.

It just made her unable to grasp what she missed exactly, even if she was happy Acht had another friend to talk with about her interests.

(Y/N) was reaching over to adjust the audio mixing on a few of the beats when he noticed Marina just staring at the two.

(Y/N): Yo, you good, Marina?

Marina: Huh?

She snapped out of it.
