Kade

I arrive at my place after spending most of my evening with Blythe at her place. I would have stayed, but she insisted I leave because she has too much work to do. I didn't argue. I don't mind getting thrown out. It isn't like we are in a relationship or even dating. It is much better like this, less stressful and less pressure. I know Blythe feels the same.

I strip down and jump in a quick shower. Blythe didn't even give me time to shower after our sexcapade. It is a nice change for me, a woman tossing me out. I am usually the one to leave or make an excuse for them to leave. I chuckle to myself as I shower. Blythe really is something else. I have never met anyone like her.

I am in and out of the shower in ten minutes. I check my phone and see a missed call from Bethany. What does she want? I roll my eyes and toss my phone aside. I am not calling her back. I dry off and change into some sweats. My phone rings again, and I ignore it again, but when she tries a third time, I groan in frustration.

"Hello," I answer, hiding my annoyance.

"Kade, I am sorry to call you, but I need your help." She slurs.

She sounds drunk.

"Beth, is everything okay?"

"I drank too much. I lost my bag with my purse, and my app on my phone doesn't seem to be working. Some of the taxi drivers are refusing to take me because I am too drunk. I can't find my friends. I did try calling my parents and sisters, but no one answered. Can you come get me, please? I am cold and I don't want to walk home alone." She pleads.

I sigh, wanting to tell her no, but I would never forgive myself if something happened to her. I don't know if I believe what she is saying. It could be a plan to get me alone, but I still won't risk it. I am not that much of an asshole.

"Okay, where are you? I will come pick you up and take you home."

"Thank you. I am outside of the Willow bar."

"I will be there soon. Don't move."

I hang up the phone and grab my keys, heading out to pick her up. It won't take long for me to arrive. I am sure she had other people who she could have called. She probably didn't even try to call anyone.

I arrive outside of the bar. She is standing against the window with her shoes in her hand. I find a parking spot and climb out to go to her. I can smell the alcohol on her. She has been drinking, but I can't decide if she is pretending to be drunker than she is.

"Kade, you came." She slurs, beaming.

"Come on, let me get you home," I reply and assist her to my car.

"I can't go home. I don't have a key to get in. My father has my spare key, and it is too late to go to his house."

"What about one of your sisters?"

She shakes her head. "I don't want them to see me like that. Can I stay at your place? I promise I won't cause any trouble and leave first thing."

"Okay. You can stay at mine."

I can't leave her to sleep out in the street. I sigh and get us on our way.

"Kade, I am sorry for my previous behaviour. I shouldn't have acted how I did." She says softly.

"It is okay. We can forget about it and move on."

I don't want to get into this with her, especially when she is under the influence.

"Why aren't you interested in me? Most men are."

"Because I am not looking for anything. I am focused on work and nothing more. I am not getting into this conversation with you, Bethany." I sigh.

She mutters something under her breath. I can't work it out. I don't say another word. The drive back to mine is silent. I help her inside and find her something to sleep in.

Bethany goes to strip out of her dress in front of me. "The bathroom is through there."

She shrugs. "I have nothing to hide."

I shake my head and walk away. If she is trying to seduce me, it isn't going to work. I am not interested in her. I am quite happy with what I have going on with her sister.

"Are you serious?" she calls after me.

"Yes."

I give her a few minutes and return to my bedroom. She sits at the bottom of my bed, pouting.

"You should sleep. You can have my bed. I will take the sofa."

Bethany bites on her lower lip and stands, sauntering over to me. She can suddenly walk better than she could when I picked her up. She stops in front of me and places her hand on my chest.

"Or you can join me in your bed?" she purrs and runs her hand over my chest.

I gently take her wrist and remove it. "No, not happening. I am not interested. No matter how many times you try to throw yourself at me."

I make sure my voice is firm and walk out of my bedroom. I swear she better not come after me. If she does, I will leave and find somewhere else to stay until she is gone. I don't want to be mean to her or hurt her feelings, but how many times do I need to tell her I am not interested?

Thankfully, she doesn't come out. Instead, she slams my bedroom door. I roll my eyes and find a blanket and pillows to crash on the sofa. If she doesn't leave in the morning like she said, I will text Blythe, and she can come deal with her. I don't want any drama.

I sigh and try to get comfortable on the sofa, but I find myself staring at the ceiling. I really hope Bethany doesn't turn on me for refusing her. I am sure she could get me fired from the project if she really wanted to.

I swear it is just my luck this situation. I don't know how to get myself out of it. I don't want to cause any trouble. All I can hope is that everything will work itself out.
