It's after midnight when I finally say goodbye to Blythe's father and our new client. It's been a good day and night, but I've been eager to leave for hours, desperately wanting to see Blythe since I haven't seen her all day. I'm used to seeing her daily, whether we're waking up or going to sleep. Even if we don't spend the night together, I usually see her at the office. I've started missing her. I'm unsure if it's too late—I haven't heard from her for a few hours; she might be asleep. Her father seems unaware that I'm dating his daughter. If he knew, I doubt he'd have invited me to meet the new client. If he found out, I'd be fired.
I take out my phone to message her since I don't want to call and risk waking her up. If she gets woken, she can be pretty mean—though it's cute. Still, I'd rather avoid her yelling at me tonight.
Hey, baby girl. I am finally done. Are you still awake? xx
I wait for a reply, but none arrives. It hasn't even been marked as read. Blythe must be asleep. I sigh, feeling disappointed. Now, I have to wait until tomorrow to see her. I really wanted to sleep next to her tonight. With a groan, I head toward my place. I could take a taxi, but it's quicker to walk. It will be straight to bed for me. I need to be up in six hours.
When I get home, I lock the door and grab a bottle of water from the fridge before heading to my bedroom. I've been drinking, so I don't want to wake up dehydrated. I strip off and climb into bed, checking that my alarm is set for the morning. Falling asleep isn't easy without Blythe here—it's become a routine now. I struggle to sleep properly without her. With a sigh, I toss and turn until I finally find a comfortable position. I slowly begin to drift off, but before I get a chance, my phone starts to ring. Who is calling me at this time?
I find my phone in the dark and answer it without even looking at the name. "Hello."
"Hey, handsome. I am outside, want to let me in?" Blythe's voice rings through the speaker.
"Blythe, what are you doing here at this time?"
"I woke up and saw your text, so I thought I would come by. Are you going to let me in or?" She laughs.
"Yes, of course, press the intercom."
I rush through, just in time for it to go off and answer it quickly. I don't want to disturb my neighbours. I let her in and open the front door, waiting for her to come. A minute later, I see her come along the hallway in her pjs and an overnight bag. I chuckle that she didn't even put clothes on and kept her nightwear on.
She smiles brightly as she approaches, reaches in, and kisses me softly. "Hey, handsome."
"Hey, beautiful. This is a nice surprise." I reply as we part and lead us inside.
"I know how needy you are and how much you miss me if we are apart too long." She smirks.
"I am not needy!" I whine.
Blythe pats my chest, laughing loudly. "If you insist."
She doesn't give me a chance to respond and walks off, heading directly to my bedroom. I laugh quietly and follow her. She's already settled in my bed, and I have no objections—I'd much prefer her presence over her absence.
"Comfortable?"
She nods eagerly. "Yes, but I would be even more so if you got your ass in here to join me."
"Yes, ma'am. Always so bossy."
"You love it. My bossiness is one of the things that excites you." She speaks each word confidently, a smirk forming on her lips.
I crawl into bed with her, towering over her. "Yes, yes, it does."
I tilt my head to kiss her, then roll off to lie beside her. Blythe shifts onto her side to face me, and I do the same. I reach out and gently stroke her cheek. She closes her eyes, responds to my touch, and lets out a contented sigh.
"I missed you," she whispers.
"I miss you too, sweetness."
She opens her eyes, smiling at me. "I had lunch with Beth today."
I am taken aback. "What? And you didn't kill one another?"
"No, she acted as if she just wanted to have lunch, but the reality was that she wanted to do it for a reason." She answers with an eye roll.
That eye roll suggests it didn't go well. Things rarely go smoothly when she's involved.
"What happened?"
She groans and tells me what happened. I can't help but laugh at how pathetic it is. "She really doesn't give up, does she?"
"Nope! She's always been like that. At least if she has him, she might leave you alone."
"Let's hope."
I know she struggles with mental health problems, but she really needs to leave Blythe alone. I'm exhausted from her attempting to harm her sister, and there's simply no reason for it.
"Yes, but let's not focus on her. I have other things I would much prefer to focus on."
I raise my brow. "And what would that be?"
Blythe pushes me onto my back and climbs on top of me, straddling my hips. "It involves no clothes and hours of sweating." With each word, she rocks her hips against me.
I groan and hold her hips. "I'd much rather concentrate on that as well."
Blythe pulls her top over her head and tosses it aside, baring her breasts to me. "I thought you would say that."
She presses her half-naked body against mine, kissing me roughly. Mmm, yes, this is what I need tonight. Who needs sleep? It is better than being alone for the night.
