Kade
"We should celebrate." Blythe beams as we leave our meeting.
He agreed right there and then that he wanted to be part of the project. Blythe is the main reason for it. She is incredibly skilled in business and knows how to achieve her goals. I find it sexy. Watching her be a boss woman turns me on. I admire strong women who are confident and business-minded. She is better than any man I have ever worked with.
"Yes, we should. You were amazing in there, Blythe. It was all very sexy to watch. I have never met anyone like you." I praise her because she deserves it.
Smiling brightly, she hooks her arms with mine. "Thank you, but it was a team effort. I am not taking all the credit for it. My father is going to be happy and proud."
"We may have worked on the proposal together, sweetness, but you brought it to life. You are the one who sold it to him. Yes, he will be very happy. How should we celebrate? It is a little early for a drink."
"Hmm, let's go and get some ice cream and coffee. We can find somewhere to sit. Somewhere quiet and relaxed. But we should change first and call my father to share the good news."
He will be proud of her, and rightly so.
"Yes, let's not go somewhere casual, dressed business-like." I chuckle.
I rest my hand on the small of her back as we head back to the hotel to change. I have enjoyed my time in London with Blythe. I am dreading the drive back, hopefully, it will go better than on the way here. We still have tomorrow left before we leave the morning after. There is no other business to deal with, so we don't need to worry about that.
Arriving at the hotel, we settle down on the sofa to FaceTime her father. He doesn't need to know we are staying in the same hotel room. It would be too apparent that there was more going on than he knows.
"Hello, you too. How is London? Are you calling with good news?"
"Hello, sir."
I will let Blythe share the good news with him.
"Hey, Dad. London is great. The meeting could have gone better. He agreed to be part of the project. It is only the paperwork left to sort out, which will be done so."
"Amazing! I knew you could both do it. Congratulations."
Blythe tells him everything about the meeting. He listens, smiling and nodding his head, with pride in his daughter. I can't help but smile too as they chat.
"Daddy, who are you talking to?"
The sound of Beth's voice echoes from behind him. Oh God, no. I don't want to see or speak to her. I can't move out of the way, it would seem weird.
"Your sister and Kade."
Blythe looks over at me, a sympathetic look on her face. Beth soon comes into the picture. She says a forced hello to Blythe, focusing her full attention on me.
"Hello, Kade, how are you?" she asks sweetly, like she wasn't stalking be a few days ago.
"Hello, Bethany, I am good, thank you. You?"
I can't ignore her, or too many questions would be raised.
"Good, thank you," she smiles, batting her lashes at me.
I stop from rolling my eyes. She chatted away to me, not giving anyone else a chance to talk. I can sense Blythe is getting annoyed with the way her fists are clenching at her side. A part of her probably wants to tell her father what has been going on, but she won't, unless it continues.
"Why are you both in the same hotel room?" Beth asks, gritting her teeth.
"We are in my room to call dad. We aren't staying in the same room." Blythe answers.
Beth rolls her eyes. "If you say so."
"Beth, don't start," Blythe warns.
Their father glances between them, his brows furrowed with confusion. "What is going on? Don't start with what?"
I stay silent. I don't know how to answer. If I appear to be getting involved again, it will raise questions.
"Nothing for you to worry about, Dad. Anyway, we just wanted to call and let you know the good news. We are going out for some food. I will see you when I come back."
With a quick goodbye, Blythe hands up, groaning and closes the laptop. She rests against the sofa, shaking her head.
I place my hand on her thigh, squeezing it. "Don't stress, sweetness. At least she didn't say anything too bad."
"True, but only because my father was there. We should change and head out."
Blythe jumps to her feet, grabs some clothes and disappears to the bathroom. Beth had better not start with me again after seeing me. I will tell her father if she does. I don't want her to get in the way of my relationship with Blythe, either, professionally or personally. I refuse. Sighing, I drag my ass from the sofa and make a move to get ready to head out.
I take a seat on the bed, waiting for Blythe to return. She does, five minutes later. Her hair is down, rather than up, as it was before. Her lips are now painted with red lipstick, rather than the clear gloss she has on for our meeting. I like she doesn't use her looks to do business. She doesn't need to anyway. Without even trying, all men will be drawn in by her. Blythe is beautiful, with or without her make-up on. Naturally beautiful. I see the way men look at her. Some of them wouldn't even try to make a move because, even if they would never admit it, many men don't like strong, confident, independent, intelligent women. It is too much for them. Blythe is all of these things.
"Are you okay?"
"I am fine. Beth stresses me out, but that is nothing unusual. She has stressed me out my entire life. All I want is for her to stay away from you."
"Don't worry about her. Let's go and enjoy our free time." I encourage.
Blythe nods and manages a smile. I offer her my arm, which she takes, and we head back out to enjoy her day. We can set Beth aside for now. We can deal with her when we return home.
