As the sun casts golden hues upon the towering structures of Manhattan, the heartbeat of New York City quickens with the rush of afternoon activity. Streets thrum with the rhythm of hurried footsteps, car horns blare in a chaotic symphony, and the air is charged with the energy of a metropolis in motion. The afternoon wears on and the sun slowly begins its descent towards the western horizon, the pulse of New York City shows no signs of slowing. It is a symphony of motion, a kaleidoscope of sights and sounds that reverberates through the streets, a testament to the boundless energy and relentless spirit of the city and its inhabitants.
Near the head of the table stood Yeji, the de facto leader of the group, not facing the crowd behind her spectating, her gaze fixed on the bustling cityscape below. With an air of quiet confidence, she turned around and leaned against the frame facing a conference room filled with holy and unholy figures. In a cramped conference room, the air hangs heavy with an oppressive silence, punctuated only by the soft hum of fluorescent lights overhead. Around a long, mahogany table, a group of individuals sits with shoulders tense and expressions guarded, their eyes darting nervously around the room as if searching for an escape route. The set date has come for them to gather at one place to finally form out a plan that can make or break their whole attempt of entering the underworld.
No one dared to initiate a conversation, not until Yeji herself decides to talk. Not even the former ruler of the underworld, Lucifer himself dared to talk, sensing the urgency and the whole aura radiating around the room. Everyone sat quietly watching the cat-eyed girl as she proceeds to slowly walk her way towards the empty chair at the head of the table. Her footsteps echo a sharp tapping as she slowly nears the chair.
She grabbed the back of the chair, pulling it out and sat. “I’m pretty sure we are all aware of what’s the agenda of this expected meeting,” the cat-eyed girl began, breaking the deafening silence surrounding the room. Yeji looked across the room, meeting everyone’s gaze. “We all know that there are things we need to discuss,” she continued, as she looked at Karina, notifying her that it’s her time to speak.
Karina cleared her throat, garnering everyone’s attention. “Okay… me, Yeji, Minju, and Minjeong have proposed an idea of entering the underworld, now this idea is achievable, but we have one main problem.”
Ryujin raised an eyebrow. “And that is?”
“We can’t enter the underworld easily now,” Karina monotonously spoke.
“How could that be? Can’t Yeji just bust us in and out of the underworld?” Chaeryeong chimed in, letting her thoughts be known to everyone.
Karina shooked her head, “I’m afraid she can’t do that anymore Chaeryeong.”
“But isn’t she the Lord of the Underworld?”
“You see Chaeryeong, with Yeji’s decision to depart the underworld, that left the underworld with no ruler. Simply speaking is that someone has replaced Yeji as the ruler of the underworld.”
“Which is why some pesky demons have come up here and have caused havoc,” Lucifer cuts in, standing up and walking towards his brother Michael, “now of course the reason why I have not come here as often as I should is because of Michael. Me and him have also been preparing for this event.”
Hyunjin looked at him, his feline eyes slicing imaginary cuts on Lucifers back. “Why would you be so invested in this whole thing Lucifer seeing as this was your own doing.”
Lucifer looked back and faced Hyunjin, whilst taking a swig from his funnel. “My only intentions were to bring Yeji to the underworld so that she can replace me as its ruler, it gets boring down there yah know?" Lucifer joked, looking right at Hyunjin who in turn rolled his eyes at him. "Yeji's decision in leaving hell and the unexpected arrival of countless demons here is not my doing,” he continued, as he sat back down to his seat.
"Okay, enough with all of this. We are here as a one and united group, we have only one mission and that is to liberate the underworld on whoever is controlling it now." Michael butts in, separating both Lucifer that had a teasing smirk plastered on his face and Hyunjin away from each other. "I don't need any egos hindering us from succeeding with this mission."
"Michael here is right, I can't risk this plan failing like last time," Yeji followed, looking at Hyunjin clearly indicating their mishap two years ago.
The whole room broke to an abrupt silence the moment Yeji finished talking, but is once again disturbed with a clap of a hand.
"Okay, now that everyone is warmed up. Let's get on with the plan." Karina spoke, prompting everyone to avert their attention towards the back of the room, "I'm pretty sure you guys are accustomed to the three levels of hell right?" she said, as she scoped the across room and seeing everyone nod at her.
"So our plan is to enter each level with precise execution, meaning no sporadic and overly dramatic entrance. We don't want to exert to much of our energy at the first level it self. We just need to enter the first level and do business."
"Oh this is just my forte," Lucifer butts in, causing everyone to look at him in confusion, "what? I used to do this back when I was in Los Angeles."
"Oh really? Hit us with your idea then Lucifer," Hyunjin spoke with a mocking tone.
"Why don't we go in pairs, to ensure full safety and coverage towards each other."
Everyone looked in awe at what Lucifer had just said. In all honesty everyone, including his brother expected him to deliver a stupid and horrendous idea. But instead they got something that is actually decent.
"Uhhh... you know what? That's actually a great idea," Karina expressed. "All of us coming in pairs greatly improves our survivability," she momentarily stopped talking and looked at Yeji, "what do you say Yeji?"
A smile crept up Yeji's lips as she looked up gleaming a confident aura. "No objection, let's meet here in ten days and start our attack."
