Maya was standing inside the kitchen, her hand fisted, gripping the edge of her saree, controlling the panic inside her and trying not to burst out.

She didn't know what was happening between Ekansh and Arohi's father, who were inside the study room discussing something. She looked at Arohi, who sat in the living room conversing with her mother-in-law.

Arohi looked tense and sad.

Seeing Arohi in their house brought an unwanted and strange fear inside her, which she tried to erase again and again, but it was difficult.

A maid entered the kitchen and took a glass of juice for Arohi. Maya sighed and silently went to her room.

She didn't want to face her after whatever had happened.

"I hope you understand my helplessness, Ekansh," Mr. Sharma said, looking at Ekansh, who was lost in thought.

Ekansh sighed, looking at him and nodded.

"Don't worry; Arohi will be safe here... Nothing will harm her. I can assure you."

Mr. Sharma leaned back comfortably, sipping his coffee. Worry was evident on his face.

"You know... I don't even want to see your face right now, but you are the only one whom I can trust, and moreover, my daughter's love for you is stopping me from doing anything."

"I am sorry for whatever happened," Ekansh said, looking at him.

"Your sorry won't fix anything. I just want my daughter to be safe. She is so scared by whatever happened a few days ago."

"She is safe with me."

Mr. Sharma nodded, putting the cup down on the table and standing up. Ekansh stood after him, following him out of the study.

His head was messed up with things.

As they reached the living room, Arohi stood up, hugging her dad.

Mr. Sharma caressed her hair and held her shoulder, looking at her gently.

"Don't be scared, okay? I will be back soon. No one can harm you here."

Arohi nodded, still not convinced to let him go.

She feared that those people might do something to her dad. She had no one now besides her father, and in her dreams, she didn’t want to lose him.

"Dad, please be safe... for me."

"Yes, baby."

Arohi nodded, still gripping his hand and unwilling to let go.

Devika arranged the dishes on the dining table as they all sat for lunch.

Arohi pulled the chair beside Ekansh and sat down, smiling at him lightly. He smiled back at her, checking the time. He was sure Maya hadn't eaten anything and wouldn't take her medicines either if he didn't give them to her.

Arohi's eyes searched for Maya since she had come there.

She wanted to ask about her but didn’t say anything. She noticed Ekansh, who looked tense and was unwilling to eat.

"Is everything okay?" Arohi asked, touching his hand, which he immediately withdrew.

"Yes," he said, not looking at her.

She hid her hurt and focused on lunch.

After lunch, Arohi's father took leave. Devika took her to her room and made sure she was comfortable there.
