Maya's POV

I leaned back a little, feeling like he was too near, but his hand held the back of my neck, his lips still attached to mine. His other hand caressed the side of my cheek softly—so softly, as if I would break.

I wrapped my arm around him, holding him by his shoulder, totally lost in him.

He sucked on my moans, continuing to kiss me; nothing mattered at that time except us... The present us. My hands shivered, tightening on his shoulder, my lips parting to take him in more. He tilted his head slightly, going deeper, making me gasp into his mouth.

Slowly, when I started losing breath and pressed my hands on his shoulder to push him slightly, his hand loosened on my neck, releasing me but still staying close, both breathing heavily and consumed in the heat of the moment.

I opened my eyes but didn't look up at him. My heart was racing like anything, and my hands felt cold with nervousness. I didn't even look at his reaction. I felt his thumb rubbing the corner of my lips, and my hand fisted in my lap.

The silence sat heavily between us... Again. No one dared to talk. I didn't know what was running in his mind; was he regretting now? I gulped down and played with my dress, feeling him move.

He held my hand and made me stand up before standing up himself and hovering over me. I gripped the counter behind me, looking at him, biting my lips, controlling my gasp as he lifted me up, making me wrap my legs around his waist.

I shuddered, holding him tight, looking at him wide-eyed.

"Ansh—"

I whispered but stopped as he kissed me again, silencing me.

Lost in his touch, I didn't realize when he started to walk towards our room. I rested my head on his shoulder, hiding my flushed face as he walked inside the room, closing the door behind us, and let me down on my feet. He leaned in close, making me stick to the door, and locked it, looking at me.

His eyes were dilated, intense, and dark. As if he was ready to consume me right then.

I gulped down in nervousness and moved away when he backed up a little, only to be pulled back by him. I gripped his shirt, looking at him nervously.

The sudden closeness was like a hurricane for my heart to process.

"I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable."

I shook my head as he said that.

"I'm not."

How could I be uncomfortable with his touch when it is the only thing that keeps me calm?

He relaxed as I said it and nodded slightly, looking into my eyes, maybe wondering if he should go ahead or stop.

My breath hitched, and I closed my eyes as he leaned down but startled as we heard the phone ring.

I stepped back, going into the closet, and he picked up the call. I sat down, leaning against the wall, taking deep breaths, trying to calm down.

My legs were literally shaking.

I wrapped my arms around my knees, resting my face on them, biting my lips. I could still feel his lips on mine. I closed my eyes, sucking my lower lip, telling myself to stop blushing.

How did we kiss so suddenly? Was it on his mind lately? Or was it just a quick action? I smiled, looking at my toes, and leaned my head back against the wall. My heartbeat was coming back to normal and steady.

I couldn't control the happiness building inside me; also, there was a fear stuck within me.

What if this happiness disappears again? Maybe it's temporary. What if everything changes again? Will I be able to handle that if I get used to this?
