Sheo's Story

Chapter Fifty-Nine

Theo's POV:

Today is the day of the meal, and I've got a lot of mixed emotions, I'm nervous in case my sister doesn't show and excited because this will be a chance for my family to meet Shai's. I know Shai's excited for that too, and she's excited to see her brother, but I know she's upset as her father isn't coming, to the wedding at all. She said we'll talk about it today so I'm just waiting for her to be ready to talk, I don't want to force her into telling me things she doesn't want me to know. There's about 2 hours until we need to leave for the restaurant and Shai's just hanging up her dress.

Once she's hung it up ready for later she comes and joins me in bed, and hugs me.

"He was basically never there for me, or my mum," she starts saying, and I'm guessing she's talking about her dad, "when I was little he walked out and left us, just after Tanner was born. A few years after that we had a little contact and he'd promise to have days out with us but would never show, I don't know why I thought things changed"

Oh man, I never knew Shai had been through such a rough time with her family. I don't know what to say as I've never experienced anything like that, so I just hold her tight and kiss her head, this is all I can think to do.

"It's okay Theo, I don't need comforting, I've been used to it my whole life now, it's not like it's just happened" She says as if reading my mind but she says it with a smile, and I think the smile is genuine.

"Well, you have me now, I'll look out for you and your family, you know that"

I put on some black jeans and a white shirt ready for the meal, and Shai's wearing a dark purple dress with matching heels. We meet everyone at the restaurant and Shai suggests that Ansel and Ana sit together as they're best man and maid of hour. I keep looking at the door waiting to see my sister walk in, but she doesn't so as I go to take my seat next to Shai, I hear my nephew call me over as he saved a seat for me. I give Shai a sorry look but she's laughing along too.

"Hey little man" I say as I sit down next to him and he begins to tell me lots of stories about being on the plane and travelling here. My other sister, Lewis' mum walks up to me and kisses my cheek.  "I'm sorry Theo, she didn't come.

After we all ate we decided to wait a bit before ordering dessert and talk, but we were all silenced when Miles stood up and declared he wanted to say a few words.

"This isn't going to be long or anything but I just wanted to say I've never met two people more in love, or more deserving of each other than these two, to Shailene and Theo" he toasts, and everyone repeats. I look at Shai who's smiling at me and I feel like the luckiest guy alive.

After saying goodbye to everyone Shai's mum and brother were still talking to Shai so I decided to join them and as I turned up Shai went to the toilet, giving me the perfect opportunity to talk to them.

"Hey, I just wanted to let you know if either of you ever need anything, to give me a call, anything at all" I say, mainly directed at Lori as Tanner can pretty much take care of himself now.

"That's so sweet Theo, thank you"

Shai's POV:

This evening was pretty tiring but me and Theo end up talking for hours about everyone getting along so well. I happened to notice just how well Ansel and Ana were getting along, I even think there could have been some flirting happening there and Theo's pretty sure he saw an exchange of numbers. I'll definitely have to talk to Ana about that.
