Frost crunched under my feet as I dismounted Ah-Un. Rin had already launched herself at the demon lord when we landed. I hung back, watching the child cling to Sesshomarus legs and ramble on and on of our adventures.
"Lord Shihiro! I'm so glad to see that you've returned to us with Rin!" Jaken squawked, scurrying up to hug my leg.
"Hello Jaken. I've missed you as well." I chuckle, leaning down to pat the imp's head.
"Grandpa Jaken!" Rins squeal was the only warning before said imp was tackled off my leg by a now hyper eight-year-old. I watch as they roll off into a nearby bush, the familiar combo of squawking and giggles wash over me.
"Shihiro" The all too familiar and missed voice of Sesshomaru comes from behind me. I couldn't even think to turn around when I felt a solid chest press against my back. My Breath caught in my throat when his arms curl around my waist. his hair cascades down my front like silk when he proceeds to bury his face into the side of my neck.
"Sessh-" I struggle to speak when his arms tighten around me, pulling me flush against him.
"Shihiro..." he breathed against my neck "you've come back" the feeling of his nose tracing up my throat gave me goosebumps.
"I have..." I manage a faint whisper, slowly relaxing in his hold. I sigh, tilting my head back to rest on his shoulder. I feel his chest rise against my back, his arms gently squeezing around me, I can hear the faint sound of him breathing by my neck.
A giddy giggle caught my attention, making me lift my head.
Rin AND Jaken are standing in front of us, both grinning ear to ear.
"You two look so cute together!" Rin giggled, running up and held her arms up in a silent demand to be picked up.
"of course, the two lords are a wonderful pair! both powerful and beautiful!"
My face burns while I lean down to pick Rin up, much to Sesshomarus chagrin as he leans with me as to not let me go. Rin squirmed in my arms till she was facing the demon lord.
"Lord Sesshomaru! Shi-Kun missed you a whole bunch while we were away!" the little girl beamed, much to my embarrassment and Sesshomarus amusement.
His chin rested comfortably on my shoulder which, to my dismay, spurred the girl into rambling.
Apparently, she had been watching me a lot more intently than i thought. she went on and on about how I would stare into space sometimes or look to my right as if I would see him.
"Shi-Kun even said your name in his sleep!"
"Whoa! I did not!" I sputter
"You did! The first night in the future" she nodded to herself.
I groan dramatically, dropping my head back to where I had it on the demon lords shoulder.
The action made Rin laugh and Jaken scold her for 'speaking of her lords private actions aloud'

After being thoroughly embarrassed with no escape, we settle down in a small clearing to give Ah-Un some rest and so I could get a nap in.
Rin ran off with Jaken chasing after her, after he had made a small fire with his staff so I could be warm.
Sesshomaru stuck with me, having me lay on his fur and use his lap as a pillow so I wouldn't have to lay on the forest floor. even though we literally have travel mats and blankets for that, I wasn't going to argue with a clingy demon lord.
I was slowly dozing off when I felt him start to play with my hair, I turn my head to look at him with half-lidded sleepy eyes.
He was looking down at me with the softest and most unguarded look I've ever seen. I hummed, reaching up to caress his cheek. I watch him lean into my touch, a soft sigh escaping his lips.
"I did miss you...Just so you know. Rin wasn't making anything up." I mumble, rubbing my thumb against his cheek. I barely catch the flicker of emotion in his eyes.
His lips twitch up to the faintest of smiles, he reaches up and places his hand over mine "And I had missed you as well Shihiro. Now sleep" He laid his other hand over my eyes which forces me to close them.
As I drift off, there is a feeling of lips against my palm and a faint whisper.
"Sleep well, My heart"
Too bad I won't remember that part when I wake up.
