After resting up and getting some food in me and Rin, we set off.

In an upsetting turn of events, Sesshomaru was actually traveling in the direction of the north as well. apparently, the north has been pushing their territory on to the west and every messenger sent has yet to return.

Luckily, we're traveling a different route to the dragon clan palace. Jaken took his time to inform me of their history.

"Dragons have been ruling the north just as long as the dog demons in the west! I haven't seen for myself, but the northern palace is said to be carved into the side of a great mountain. It took hundreds of dragons and three hundred years to get every detail molded perfectly. The great dragon Ryukotsusei was the heir to the northern lord title, but his spirit was too wild to be a lord, he cast the title aside. Naturally, the title went to the next in line, which was his younger brother, Ibuki, who wasn't any better than Ryukotsusei. Though while the older brother gained power through battle and blood, Ibuki took the lord title with stride and ruled over the land with an iron fist. He gained power with a sharp tongue and twisted mind. When Ryukotsusei was defeated by lord Sesshomarus father, The north shunned the west. It's true that the two territories weren't ever allies, barely a truce between the lands. But with two great demons gone because of the other..." Jaken shuddered with a glance at the current dog lord, "There wasn't any trouble since neither territory wanted to acknowledge the other. It wasn't until about a month ago that there have been several attacks on our boarders, by lower rank dragons. Of course, our gracious lord Sesshomaru tried to get his answer diplomatically and sent messengers. But none have returned..."

"And it's safe to assume that they've most likely been killed..." I frown, fiddling with some loose threads of my obi.

It's only been a day since me and Rin reunited with our favorite companions and its honestly felt like we've never been separated.

The only thing is that the two males have been oddly affectionate. Jaken being more tolerant of Rins clinginess, even choosing to be close to the girl when we stop to rest. He, of course, didn't dare to get too close to me, seeing himself as unworthy of being in my presence like his lord, though he was even more enthusiastic to answer my questions.

As for our great demon lord, Sesshomaru indulged in Rins affections as he usually did. Allowing her to cling to his leg, giving her a pat on the head, and even agreeing to carry her for a bit when we had to fly across a river.

With me on the other hand... It's like I've become a magnet to him. when he's not going off on his own, he stays by my side. Not in a hovering kind of way, but like a puzzle piece. Slotting himself next to me like it's the most natural thing. His arm curled around my waist or his fur on around my arm.

I have a strong feeling that he expected me to be back sooner rather than later, deal be damned.

anyway, back on topic, think of clingy demon lords later.

missing - probably dead- messengers, a power-hungry dragon lord, bad history/blood between the two territories.

"This is spinning to be a headache of a confrontation" I groan out load, wanting to vent my frustration out to the imp.

"That is quite right my lord..."
